How about us non-AMG types? Can we play too?

If yes, count me in.

If non AMG are welcome I can bring CL600 instead of C32. If there is any track or dragstrip time then C32 though.

Yes, not sure on the exact location but new york seems to be the center part of the Northeast(reaching as far down as Maryland)

Any thoughts of having it at Lime Rock the weekend before the AMG Challange?

lime rock is a bit difficult to get as are most road courses are because we need to have either some group sponsor the event for us or pay out of pocket to get all the needed emergency personell on hand

Thanks for the update!

Little suggestion.

Would it be possible to break up the groups by region? It would be nice to caravan down from wherever we are. ie. Boston folks could drive down together and such. Make the drive down a bit of an event itself by holding a small meet/greet prior to the actual event. A caravan of AMG cars is sure to brighten up motorists' morning.

Cheers

Has anyone had experience caravanning? I would be concerned that it may draw the wrong kind of attention. As it is, unless the meets are in a controlled, private area, they are likely to invite those who are not necessarily welcome, including mad at the world cops from the town who insist on the group breaking up just because they can.

I've "caravanned" with other car enthusiast groups. I've done it with a Porsche group (pick up runs with friends and other marques welcome), a Lamborghini group (Texas Running of the Bulls which had something like 12 Lamborghinis covering every decade of production, on the road), and a Ferrari group (various times with older and newer cars). If we coordinate how we drive well it is quite a bit of fun. Most people are actually pretty respectful on the road. As for police...my experience has been favorable in group runs and ugly at best when I'm cruising solo.

Cheers

I will leave the individual areas to organize the group caravans... I am only human, lol... Besides Ill prolly be down there already at whatever hotel we pick, meeting everyone... I will say that Caravanning is fun and it def attracts EVERYONE's attention and as long as your not driving like Jackasses police will leave a group of cars alone. At most it looks like there are a few cars from each state going so it wouldnt be a big caravan till the group as a whole is moving from hotel to track, hotel to dyno, etc etc.

Also, anyone intersted in Doing some wristbands like the livestrong ones. I found a company that will make them. We can have an AMG one made or AMG Northeast 05 or something like that put on them, they are a $1.25 a piece with up to 16 characters on em

Great idea on the wristbands. If more people would fill out their profile with where they're from the organizing of the groups would be very easy.

Stickanddice's comments are helpful. As long as a group drives smoothly and no faster than the flow I imagine that the police will not be a problem. My experience solo in my 02 Carrera S4 was that every cop around would tailgate me waiting for me to start moving at the speed of the surrounding traffic on the interstates, which is to say usually at least 10 mph over the posted limit. Of course, I never accommodated them. I did not want to attract that kind of attention, which is why I got a Black CL55 instead of a 996 Twin Turbo. Only occassionally does the CL attract the tailgating police car.

Yeah AMGs are a little bit more stealth like on the police radar vs a twin turbo porsche(figuritively speaking I mean)... No one associates Mercedes with blazing speed!!!

OK folks how bout this if we can get this to flow... Track day at lebanon Valley raceway, and then Dyno runs at Orange County Choppers? We could maybe do a photoshoot there as well? Please give me feed back. And could someone... on LI please let me know if the LI motorsport park is closed down?

I'm in. A road course would be great, though. I know not charging any money is the goal, but maybe we should look into a lime rock to see what it would cost. I don't think spending a couple of hundred bucks is gonna change anyone's life here.

BTW, the drag strip on LI is closed.

The OCC thing is definitely a hook. Add one to your non-AMG list.
