Just got back from the AMG Challenge. Awesome time! I got fastest lap / record o'dee-day for one of the 'minor' competitive events. Of course that one wasn't the event that got a free IWC watch to the winner [! that's right, someone did ! the winner of the AutoX.], I only got a Mobile shirt (wife says I look like a gas station attendent ) and a signed cone, which is pretty cool; I asked Tommy Kendal to sign it too. LoL ...
now back on topic, it was a little surprising to see noone from Mercedes, folks who work in the department throwing the 'party', made mention in any public fashion about this Meet @ MB Headquarters! That sucked. You'd figure most people were from the general vicinity, and it would have been the appropriate audiance. I -almost- grabbed the mic and said something about it inviting everyone when I was called up to get my shirt & cone. ...not that out going tho.

Can someone please tell me what AMGfest is?
I heard from a friend a while ago that at Giants Stadium Mercedes lets the public drive their cars? Is this the same thing?
Also is it compulsary that I own an AMG to attend?

Hi. Great to hear from you. No, all MBs welcom. Please look back through the thread; I posted a detailed decription of last year's event a number of posts back [post #82] and I think you'll have a good understanding after that. Please register with the organizer in the manner requested in the 1st post of this thread.

Pete, Dave (C43) and others here have done an outstanding job of putting this thing together for our benefit. Some of us will be traveling a good distance to attend this weekend and I have offered to assist Pete and Dave with anything they need.
First, and most importantly, please register. There is no cost, but our host (MBUSA) needs a good headcount so to adequately prepare for the crowd. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes logistics on their part, so kindly register if you have not done so already.
If you are planning to attend this meet, please e-mail Pete (55fanatic) at NortheastAMG at yahoo.com with the following information:
Subject line: 2006 Registration
Name:
Address(city and state only):
Age:
Mercedes vehicle:
Number of guests:
Days of participation:

Forum name(s):
No acknowledgement will be sent. Friends, this weekend meet is being organized by volunteers and the only thing you'll need to do is to register and show up Saturday morning at MBUSA. The day will begin at 9:00am. Lunch is being planned and we'll have an opportunity to spend time getting to know each other and gawking at all the beautiful sheet metal!
Where else in the world, other than Affalterbach, will you be surrounded by dozens and dozens of sweet AMG rides and a chance to interact in person with Mercedes-Benz and AMG enthusiasts? Montvale will be our 'Mercedes-Benz Mecca' on August 26th!
I will begin a separate threads for hotel information and one for directions to MBUSA.
Pete has graciously arranged for a limited number of AMG owners to participate in the Sunday Autocross at Meadowlands, being run by the NJ chapter of the Porsche Owners of America. If you haven't registered with them, it may be too late at this point. However, we are all invited to spectate! Some of us may need that Sunday to return home, depending on the distance. Other specifics about the Sunday autocross can be found on the #1 post in this thread. MBUSA has no affiliation with the Sunday autocross.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!!!

I don't think I registered formally. If I only will attend on Sunday, is this still needed?
Also, will the location at the stadium be easy to find? As you know, Giants Stadium parking lot is no small place.
Also also, due to complete lack of interest, I'm not bringing any swag.

Here's a link to the Porsche Club's Autocross info....it should answer any questions about the Sunday location and what to expect.
