SoCal OCT tech day?

Hey guys,

i've been talking about this ever since we had a pretty successful canyon meet.

What do you guys think about holding a tech day maybe one of these saturdays in october?

Unfortunately, i live in apt so i can't volunteer my place. I'm hoping someone with a house preferably with a larger driveway can step up and volunteer a place.

Maybe all the people that come, can bring a case a beer and help chip in for pizza or something for the person donating there place.

I think this can be better then a regular meet, since we can help each other out on various installs.

I know everyone on this forum are experts in different fields, this way we can take advantage of that.

Let me know if you guys think its worth while. If you would be willing to volunteer your place, please list the city its in. If we have more then one volunteer, we can pick a city in between OC and LA.

I have a warehouse that has a parking lot for approx 12-15 cars.

If used on a W/E it could work. Also have a bathroom, etc, BUT, I'm on the border of Compton and it is not the best neighborhood.

Ohh, and another downside, is zero shade.

If we use my place there are a couple of days on weekends that wont work. Oct 11-12th and Oct 25th.

However, I must admit, I'm not hugely enthusiastic on keeping the other w/e dates open with no committment. There are plenty of other things I'd like to be doing, so I'd like to dial this in.

Don't see this as being pretentious rather, as a single father, I try to pick up extra days with my Pitter and her mom is a bit of a planner, so I feel as if I'm tying my w/e up.

no, i completely understand emrliquidlife, family's always first. I would like to thank you for stepping up and offering a place for everyone to meet up and be able to help each other out.

i wouldn't mind going to the warehouse since its pretty close to my house. I would like it get other people's input whether they would show up..to make it worth the effort your putting in to set it up.

guys, would you show up if it was at the warehouse location emrliquidlife mentioned?

Splinter has been out there, so he can give additional details of what is and isn't there. We can get power going with extension cords, bathroom check, just a caveat, there is no shade, and we are not going to want to be out there past sunset.

yeah i agree...maybe start in the late morning..

What does everyone think?

i was thinking maybe 11am on OCt 18th?

Everyone should bring whatever tools they can fit in there car. I'll probably bring your typical rachet set, jack stands, jack, breaker bar, drills, and maybe some miscell electrical stuff.

Hopefully LET will be up running again and i get a heatexchanger for that time.

I might be willing to have a tech day at my building in Downtown Brea. It's next to the movie theater and shops. The date would be pending, but most likely middle of Oct on a weekend. Anyways, the place is safe and I've stayed there pretty late at night with no problems. Again, no shade really, but then you can work on your tan while working on your car.

Solder flux helps to clean the 2 parts you are soldering. It also helps the solder to stick to the material. Contaminants in the metal you are soldering will create a weak solder point that can detach easily.

i suck at soldering..hence i just crimp it with barrel connectors. Don't waste your time watching videos, just buy a soldering iron and practice on some spare wires.

Your also going to have to do the research and find the schematic for the fog harness.

hey guys...after talking with some people on perspective sites...It looks like maybe we should shelf the idea until early next yr or try to organize a smaller meet.

some people are afraid of the volume that would show up or have made other committments.
