Started off by wanting to just replace the cabin air filter, saw a bunch of debris inside the air box so proceeded to remove the top cover by unclipping the little silver clips around the edges. Realize that the glue that was holding the top lid was already dried up and barely holding so I took off the top lid off the box. Then noticed that the whole box was held down by only three bolts, so I removed the three bolts and pulled the box out to clean it more thoroughly inside and out. Ended up cleaning the area where the box sits. Going to Ron a bead of new urethane sealer around the edges of the box cover and put it back together.

Just some engine degreaser, edgitate everything with a paint brush then rinse it off with water. Blow everything off with air, then wipe it with a rag to get any spots I missed.

cooling fan fues or relay location
Great work on your truck resto! I can't wait to see pictures. I wanted to ask you where would I find the coolant fan fuse or relays? I discovered that my fans are not running and the truck is running a little hot approaches 95 degrees! I said he would know what might be the problem! Thanks so much for your help!
Are you replacing your door sill lights?

Im sorry, I don't know where that fuse would be. I would try Googling fuse diagram for G500 and maybe you can see it there.
Yes, Im going to be replacing door sill lights.

Kobzar, I have an 05 G55 and need a few parts that are a little worn out, by any chance, is there an online guide you go by with a directory of all the part numbers for every part?

Hello
I purchase all my new, original parts from www.mymbgenuineparts.com
Danny at the dealership that provides parts for that site is very helpful: dvega@lokeyautos.com
Sometime I go to this other site www.mbpartsworld.com for detailed diagrams (because they have more detailed diagrams), but then I go back and still proceed with purchasing the parts with www.mymbgenuineparts.com
**they have the best prices out there from all other wholesale Mercedes parts websites.

Transfer case mounts came in. Waiting for the mid-shaft rebuilt kit and will start putting things together underneath

Center shaft CV boot kit arrived. Decided to replace one of the bearings as well. The side that had a torn boot, bearings were a little rusty and there was more play in them then I felt it should have.

I have not had a chance to do that.
Its an aftermarket system. So I will use all the wiring that came in the kit and instead of using their notification lights that they provided, I will wire it to the new mirrors and use the notification triangle in the mirror to warm me if there is a car in the blind spot.

I might have missed this, but how do you know how to do all of this? I'm thoroughly impressed with your skills.
Thanks for documenting and sharing your build.

I grew up around cars being fixed. While growing up I was helping my dad and eventually it came naturally. Also, doing lots of online research on how to do / fix things.
YouTube is also very helpful ))

Installed the middle shaft but bolts I purchased from the dealer were 5mm shorter then the they were supposed to be (must have been from another model...). I installed the shaft anyways but did not bolt it in. Replacement bolts should be here in 1 week.
Did install all new transfer case mounts and new transmission mount.
Replaced transfer case oil.
