Valentine 1 radar detector and polarized glasses

For 2019 G63 is there a specific place in the windshield where radar detector is supposed to mount? I recall reading something about an area to right of rearview mirror where there isn't any coating on the windshield that blocks the radar detector reception. Is this true or can radar detector be mounted anywhere?

Any issues seeing the new dual screen dash with polarized lenses?

It can only be mounted just to the right of the rear view mirror. In your owners manual is a picture of the area.

awesome, thanks for the info! Do all US vehicles have this windshield heater or is that an option on only the cold weather package cars?

All US G63's have the windshield heater. Also I have the widescreen and wear polarized sun glasses. No issue at all seeing the screens.

I have a Escort Max 360 sitting on the dash directly behind the windshield wiper arm and it works just fine.

How is everyone mounting their radar detector, specifically V1, on a near vertical windshield? No blendmount available and the standard mount won’t work.

Got V1 to mount nicely after some fiddling. Here is what I did. Did hidden hardwire install to SAAVY module into OBD port. Angle of G windshield not friendly to mounting angle of detector. When you put it on windshield if points at the hood. Do below and it will point in right direction. Make sure using new larger suction cups as if they are hard and dried out won't stick well enough. Position V1 high up in area where windshield has transparent opening that doesn't block detection. Wet suction cups and put V1 into first click on windshield mount. To get V1 pointing in right direction I used a rubber test tube stopper that I had on workbench from another project. Picked up bag of them on amazon for cheap years ago. They make bunch of sizes. Tons of other things you can use for the spacer. Just look around and see what you have of right hight. You attach the stopper to the V1 with one of the 3m tape tabs that Valentine supplies for install. With V1 high on windshield the stopper is in perfect position to push it so sitting flat. See picts below. Hope this helps.

How do you see what the V1 was is alerting you to? Audio alerts? I cant see my max360 on the right of the mirror.

I can see the V1 arrows to right of my rearview mirror in that position. Works great. Have the V1 accessory module but didn't need to install that. Unit hooks up great with Savvy into OBD port put I get an alert I need to turn off every time I turn car on. OBD doesn't like things being kept in. No issues other than annoying alert. just hit that when I turn off stupid lane keeping assist.

Custom programmed sweeps into V1 years ago focused on Florida police bands and now have almost zero false alerts. Really works great.

picture of V1 from drivers seat. you can see the arrows just fine. just mount it as far right and high as possible in the window foil gap. leaves room for my EZ pass to right of detector. don't mind my big skull in the rearview mirror.

Seems better viewing wise than my 360 but I am afraid to be looking top right while driving on highway frequently.

I can see it when I look at rear view mirror. No need to look unless it's setting an alert which with custom sweeps almost never happens. If it chirps there is a cop around. you can mount V1 accessory module in different more centered spot or use smartphone as display if you buy the bluetooth module. Have had my V1 for 15 years now and have upgraded it with new electronics 3-4 times to keep the internals current.

Great to know. Is the V1 current or do we expect a new V2 coming soon?
