Side Mouldings Part No's 2016 G63 AMG

Hi all

Anyone able to confirm the part numbers for the side moulding strips that go front to back of the vehicle exterior waistline for a 2016 G63 AMG please, mine were removed to have a full body wrap done prior to ownership and they are deformed and have been bonded back on as a result, looks really bad. Considering removal, clean up and fitting of new ones to bring it back to the nice condition of the rest of the paint etc. but assume it wont be cheap? Images attached so you can see what I mean, the white residue is polish thats since been wiped away but there are gaps along the body and excess bonding product that's very visible

Mine have the silver insert but happy to go with black for my black G63

Thanks
Carl

a good body shop can fix and re-install these properly!

jesus, man. This isnt a color question. Dumb advice can be costly to others. 3m tape done by a body guy is the best solution.

If someone plans to use Super Glue, which I would never do, they should at least use a better adhesive thus the Gorilla Glue comment - some people just want an easy fix at home albeit I do agree with you.

The OP asked for part numbers, not glue options - these were already glued and look bad. Your dealer parts person should gladly give you the part numbers.

why not go back to the PPF shop that did this and ask for compensation?

I was aware at point of sale and whilst I didn’t know before entering into negotiations I decided to accept the vehicle with a view to sorting it, to my own standards.

A local bodyshop supposedly improved one area in order to put the vehicle through its prep, he must of had 15 whiskey’s first, and the dealer declared him the best around so I decided not to push it with them and have it made worse, if that’s possible.

Ive read about various mastic type product dissolvers that may break the residue down a bit, tempted to remove them myself so I know Ive not killed the paint underneath then covered it over but will look into other bodyshop options first to see if thats an option then go to new parts if needed?

I assume 2019 on mouldings dont fit, theyre a little neater than the original G design.

Thanks

the side moldings from the dealer range from $100-300 for LWB, and $100-500 for SWB. And they don't come with the silver insert.

If you can stand the look of carbon fiber, or don't mind painting over it, I would go for this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/DRY-Carbon-...wAAOSwOfZdpzYU

The story they sold you about the body shop is not true. IMO best option would be to have a body shop remove them, heat them up and bend them back into the correct shape, and then do a clean install.

Got the part numbers from MB near me, almost £1,500 GBP for the set, ouch. Going to try and save the original ones with careful removal, straightening etc. does anyone know if these are fixed on mechanically underneath the decorative strips?

I saw some used ones on eBay and they had holes down the length of the main moulding and I saw a used wing that also had holes in it so wondering if they mechanically fix and the person who re-fit mine didnt do that so theyre peeling off, or maybe the holes in each are to locate only but no parts for either on the MB parts catalogue Xentry so I'm confused now?

Some images I've looked at that indicate holes for mechanical fixing perhaps? Not the matching trim pieces for the wings and strangely can only see the holes from the underside so the mouldings must attach to a block that attaches to the body, or am I way off here?
