Rear Sway bar?
Hi, looking to see if anyone on this forum has remedied their excess rear body roll on lifted G wagon. I know that Limey has used ORC Rear Sway Bar retro kit to remedied this issue but was wondering if there were other options? Any suggestion would be appreciate it. I was getting ready to place an order for the ORC kit but thought I would seek some wise counsel from this group. Thank you in advance.

I have done the mod yet, but am looking to do the same. I won't be hardcore off roading in the near future and would welcome the additional stability. Look forward to see what others have done/what their experiences are!

The ORC rear sway bar makes a considerable difference in body roll. Definiitely makes it handle better, and feel more stable. I put one on one of the lifted G65s we had, but ended up taking it off because it was making popping noises going in and out of parking lots. I think that could be remedied though. There are some flat washers that all-thread runs through on the tubes/frame supports in the rear that are too thin. The flat washers they send actually end up bending when you tighten the nuts down on the washers, and I think they just never allowed them to seat firm enough. My suspicion was that the mounts were shifting ever so slightly because the all-thread wasn't tightened enough due to the deformed washers. My solution was going to be to have some thick (3/8" or 1/2") washers made to alleviate this issue, but I ended up selling that G65 after taking the sway bar off. I actually still have the sway bar if you are interested....

This great info, appreciate the insight. As for the sway bar, if you have the entire kit I would be interested. I will PM you shortly. Thanks.

Hey VaderOne,
Not sure if you've seen this thread but another point of reference. I've exchanged a few emails with AMG_55_cruiser and he was very open to discussing things about his truck.

VaderOne installed one a while ago and also had great things to say about the kit. This is still on my list of mods to do, when I have extra income for fun parts.
I do wish there was a simpler kit that could install an anti-rock or like bar through the frame tubes. That would be a great way to keep the sway bar itself up high and neatly packaged. No time to R&D though.

The ORC rear sway bar is an absolute must if you plan on lifting your G. I have had one on my 2010 G550 for years and I wouldn’t consider driving without it… also just had a close friend put one on his 2016 G63. Both trucks handle so much better with the extra beefy rear sway bar from ORC.
