2021 G63 AMG - Matte Black
Taking Delivery of my G63 next week

My truck arrived last week and should be at the dealership this week or next.

I'm thinking about asking the dealership not to wash/"detail" the truck before handing it over to me to avoid paint damage. My truck is matte black. Has anyone done this before?

They told me they dont use high octane gasoline. Surprising considering they sell a lot of high end AMGs.

Yes, don’t let them touch it, don’t let them fill it up either. They filled mine with fuel and couldn’t tell me the octane of the fuel. They were supposed to let me know before fueling my G 63. The salesman came running out to tell me he filled it up. I took mine straight to the detail shop and had a lifetime ceramic pro coating applied. I’m still running the questionable fuel out of mine. I’ve been topping it off with Mobil 93 octane. I had water, not condensation running out of the exhaust system until I put 93 octane fuel in it. I have another 7 gallons to go until I’ve put 26.5 gallons in. I’m going to run it down to half full until I put more fuel in. Make sure you inspect the paint before writing the check!

Told mine to do as minimal as possible. The dealer didn't mind I'm sure they get the request a lot.

There were still swirls in the paint (metallic) which are inevitable but my detailers took care of it.

Mine didn’t have any swirls in the paint, it’s silver metallic. The windows were covered with acid rain from sitting at the port in Baltimore for 5 weeks waiting on EPA certification.

Ask them to call you the minute it arrives and head over yourself before they touch anything. They can take all the coverings off the interior while you are there but the exterior needs to remain untouched (especially with matte paint). Trust me.

Congrats on your G! My current G63 is Magno Night black and I love it! The dealership did detail mine upon pickup and did a good job. Then it went to the shop for Xpel Stealth PPF + Ceramic coating. I have a 21' G63 on order in Arabian Grey (Non-Metallic). Should I be worried about swirl marks and a non-metallic paint etc? I've had a non-metallic black BMW and I absolutely hated it. One thing I LOVE about Magno, no swirl marks.

I wouldn’t let the dealership touch it, I never let them wash my vehicles. I use a Master Blaster to get most of the water off my vehicles, I use a good quality wash mitt and Mr. Pink car wash soap that’s PH neutral, a wash bucket with a grid in it, I wash the wheels last. I also use heavy microfiber drying towels from Exoforma. If you’re careful, you can avoid swirl marks. I had my G 63 coated with Ceramic pro lifetime coating and I use their reload spray at least once a month. My GT3 was ceramic coated and I have Sun Tek 8mm self healing PPF on the entire vehicle, it’s jet black metallic, my G is silver metallic.
