Tuxmats for new (2019+) G Class available!

After working with them, along with the help from a couple of members that live near them in Canada, since January of 2020, their all-weather mats are finally available for sale! These are better than the others since the sides do not droop over time and they look fantastic in the G: https://www.tuxmat.ca/products/8563-...-mat?year=2019

II am waiting for my set to arrive and will post pics of them installed but another member here posted some pictures a while back of the prototypes in his G.

Bob- thanks for your hard work on this. They look great. I've got the OEM all weather mats but they leave a lot to be desired, especially near the footwell and in the second row. Very tempting.

Is this much protection necessary over the factory rubber mats?

the factory mats are flat and dont trap much mud/dirt/snow. if you actually take your G off road over muddy terrain, you'd find the additional protection is definitely needed. if your G is mostly a mall crawler in sunny weather then i'd say the additional protection is not required.

I ordered my G with OE factory mats, but sold them and replaced them with a full set of Weathertechs. (1) Factory mats were flat, floppy and lacked ability to trap much water; (2) 2nd row mats were same and comprised 3 separate mats; (3) the set did not include a cargo mat. I've used Weathertechs in my cars for 20 years and they hold up well. Would like to see a comparison rating of Weathertech versus Tuxmat. Beverlyhillsmotoring.com has leather or carbon fiber floor mats for ~$1500 or ~$2200 for a 5 piece set (why settle for polymer mats?).

Nice is nice, but what makes them a must have?

Not sure I’d say their must haves... They’re good for why I need them- children. They offer a higher level of coverage weather tech does not. I took some quick photos. They wrap the base of the seats as you can see below.

I noticed from photos posted earlier that the Tuxmat coverage is better along the console wall and seat base. Are the mats sufficiently stiff so that these extensions stay in place independently, or are there hook/loop fasteners? The material looks more fabric than rubber -- is this ballistic nylon like many luggage pieces use? What's involved in cleaning? Can you power-wash them?

I just installed a set of tuxmats a few days ago. They are awesome. I have the oem Mercedes G rubber mats and a set of the weathertechs. The tux mats provide better coverage and appearance. Will report back on how they hold up this winter.

I installed mine and think they are great. It would be nice to hear where you guys used the clips? I only used them on the front mats, drivers side by the gas pedal and near the seat..

My wife said she only used them on the driver's side center console, and only 3.

The OE mats are made by Weathertech.

It’s true that the OE mats don’t cover much of the carpet, so they are not great for snow and mud. Although it’s not hard to clean salt from carpets.

Because I called Weathertech and you can see the similarities in the MB branded vs Weathertech branded mats.

the OE G wagon mats arent the same as the all weather mats for other models. i dont think they are made by weather tech. the OE mats are 3 separate pieces for the rears, not floor liner style which is very typical of weathertech products.

I've had both the OE mats (sold them) and the Weathertechs (now installed), and there are no similarities whatsoever.

I have the oe rubber mats they are a soft rubber, have a big G on the front mats. I also have the weathertechs, more of a hard plastic. And I now have the tuxmat as well.
I can confirm the oe G rubber mats are not weathertechs. I’ve seen some dealerships sell weathertechs from their parts department. They usually replace the weathertech emblem with a Mercedes decal emblem hence why I think there’s some confusion on the oe’s being weathertechs.
Tuxmats are the best out of the 3 for what I need. A lot of snow and slush where I live, the coverage is second to none.

Makes sense that it’s region specific. At least in Canada when I got my OE winter mats for every MB I’ve had (5), they are always Weathertech.
They are not large enough so I just ordered the Tuxmats.

Most all weather mats are weather techs, except on the G wagons, where the OE all weathers are the soft rubber ones. For other models, I agree that they are basically rebranded Weathertech. If you have a merc branded weather tech mat from the dealer, that would be interesting because I haven’t seen one for G wagon application.

No disagreement on the size and efficacy of the OE mats. Even Weathertech cut back the coverage of its driver side mats after Toyota was sued several years ago when some moron's floor mat got jammed in his gas pedal and he crashed and died (at least that's what the moron's lawyers argued). Haven't seen a Tuxmat yet, but my Weathertechs are doing the job, so I'll stick with them.
