Vehicle exterior lighting is regulated by law. Generally, you can install whatever you like, but illuminating it can sometimes have consequences. I remember reading a couple years ago about some guy who thought hanging a string of colored holiday LED lights on his grill would look cute (he probably had a reindeer antler hood ornament too). He was ticketed for illegal lighting.
There are YouTube videos about LED MB stars, but first check to see if it's legal where you live. Personally, I think this would look tacky on a G.

Completely agree on it being tacky af, really degrades a car like the G.
