2024 G63 Purchase Adventure

Signed the papers to purchase our Magno Copper Orange G63 late December after shopping around the entire country. Ended up purchasing from dealership in Southern California. The dealers in Texas were all asking around $50k over.

Tommytrojan was lucky enough to find one in Texas for $15k over. I wasn't so lucky and had to find one in California, for a similar deal. But of course it took longer for delivery, due to purchasing right before the Christmas/New Years holiday.

We were originally shopping for a Cardinal Red color and planned on having it stealth wrapped after seeing a Magno Cardinal Red 4x4 squared which was quite impressive. I showed my spouse the photos Tommytrojan had posted of his new Magno Copper Orange G63 and she said, yes that's the one. (She loves this old Orange Land Cruiser that lives near us, and likes its old retro color.)

Our G63 in the delivery storage area of the dealership. They moved it off of the floor, once we did the deal over the phone.

The Lamborghini enclosed delivery truck offloading our G-wagon at XPEL Houston.

Had the delivery truck drop it off at XPEL Houston. Our G-wagon is now having PPF, ceramic coating and window tint applied, Will have the vehicle back hopefully, early next week. I did get to drive it to Mercedes Benz of Houston North for a vehicle inspection, so I've driven it, a total of about 4 miles thus far. Can't wait to have it back.

The delivery truck was a Lamborghini enclosed trailer as apparently, they can't ship via the Panama Canal anymore, so the Lamborghini's are delivered to the port of Houston, and then trucked to California, which is where my vehicle came from.

Congrats on the beautiful ride SLS! I managed to pick one up before end of the year for a slight markup ($15k), but it was in the exact color combo I wanted.

$100k is ouch. Even in Newport Beach they were asking 40-50k last I checked!

Here's another photo at XPEL Houston, today they are doing the roof in PPF. This is nice as an XPEL dealer in LA said they won't do the roof as it is too easy to dent. So I'm glad the Houston XPEL location includes it as part of their full wrap. It's a large roof so a bunch of material. I'm also ceramic coating the vehicle and paying additional for Wheel faces - $200, Glass - $250, Plastic Trim - $200 plus Wheel Wells - $300 which are not included.

Regarding PPF, I had read on the BMW forum that an owner of an X7 purchased PPF material from XPEL at a 20% discount for being a member of the BMW Club of North America. He paid about $3,000 for the material. He said it would be around $6,000 for the kit (which I am assuming means it's been cut to size and not just the roll). He mentioned that at that price, it was worth it to just pay the extra and have XPEL do the install. He said it takes a very, very, long time, and the G63 has so many little pieces to put on, I believe much more difficult than an X7.

Regarding registration, I was told by a BMW dealer in California that they could not sell a car in Texas unless they paid a 3rd party to walk the paperwork to the DMV. I have found this to not be true. The MB dealership in California FedEx'd the paperwork to my local County Tax Office, when the County Tax Office received the paperwork, they even called me! I went down there and paid the Sales Tax plus about another $200 in registration fees, and now I have plates and the window sticker. So except for driving from XPEL to Mercedes Benz Houston North (a couple of miles round trip) for the Inspection without a license plate, really it all worked out. Also received the two year inspection and two year window sticker, since it was a new vehicle.

Rainy day in Houston, awaiting PPF and Ceramic Coating.

PPFed and coated and didn't alter the look.

Picked up the vehicle at Xpel. Super nice people and the price was right thanks to Tommytrojan. Had them redo the passenger side headlight as there was a 1/3" gap between the paint and the bottom of the headlight.

After they completed the project, I thanked them by buying a couple of cases of Modelo from Sams Club across the street, and a bottle of Buffalo Trace for the manager. They didn't expect it but it did feel like I wasn't the 1st to do this by any means.

I purchased the interior PPF from Xpel online and will work on that next as my interior project. Also ordered a ton car maintenance stuff from Griott's Garage https://www.griotsgarage.com as the Manager at Xpel recommended them.

Also added a Bluetooth adapter to the Apple Car Play USB A connection in the center console along with a thin wireless charging pad. Going to see if I can cleanly wire these in so that I don't have connectors sticking out of the USB ports. Will also be ordering the OEM looking front camera and will wire in a rear camera as well from Fitcamx https://fitcamx.com/products/for-mer...39873826848940. Other have posted on the forum that the App is ok, it doesn't get high reviews, but I want an OEM look. I figure if it doesn't work out, I can buy a better camera and try and retrofit the camera into the housing.

Visiting our son and grand baby in Houston before heading home. Wind noise hasn't been too noticeable. We hear a little bit of noise at the top of the driver and passenger windows.

it’s a Black Interior with Bronze Stitching to match the exterior. I would have chosen Saddle but theses Magno Copper Orange ones were doled out to dealers as a reward, so they are all pre configured. You can’t pick this color on the online configurator. Oddly enough, you can on the .ca Canada site.

Bluetooth and Charger

Here is the charging pad and wireless blue tooth. Bought adapters so the wires didn’t stick out as much.
