whats with all the amg posers these days
i saw three amg posers today, a cls500 amg, and 2 s600 amg's. did the price on fake badges come down or something?

I don't know what AMG badges cost, but like everything else, they are likely for sale on eBay. Posers bother me too, but I guess those are their cars so there's not much we can do about it, except removing those fakes. I've read dental floss will do the trick.

I was at a car wash two weeks ago and saw a S600 AMG and the driver some kid, I hate to describe (street punk) driving this car great car but there was somthing missing!!!no dual exhaust in the back, so I said hmmm ( a poser?). His car lined up to get his car wash in the machines and mine was right behind it. As it exit, one of the guys that work there got in his car and parked it out so they can finish drying it and cleaning it up. Then my car came out and they parked right next to the S600. I went over and waited and guess what the AMG and the S600 emblem is missing....

this is starting to get me aggrivated. all of the benzes i saw this week were "AMG's" i saw a cls550 and two s600 AMG's including a honda and some other buckets

The dealers are slapping them on. I've seen S500, S600 and CLS500...all mis-badged. If I were to buy one of those cars from the dealer, I'd take the AMG badge off day 1.

Yeah there's always someone will try to completely fool you but they are not that hard to spot. The one I mention about the car wash almost got me, but then I hesitated when I notice the car is missing dual exhaust. Any car with AMG Emblem like the S55, S600 and the new S65 must have a dual exhaust system, if not then we know its just another poser trying to impress someone. I can spot a fake and I'm sure you guys can too.

I have an AMG badge on the trunk. It's period correct, from Affalterbach, and it cost me $150, from someone who actually was an authorized AMG dealer in the 1980s and 1990's... and a sticker for the air cleaner housing that said AMG also.
No excuse, I just wanted to have one. From time to time they show up on ebay for sale, about $135 to $150...
The rule was the car was supposed to have at least 3 AMG modifications to qualify for the AMG script. Those could be body, interior, mechanical or suspension, but there had to be three.
I'm still open to period correct AMG mods sometime in the future, but they would have to be well thought out before I would get any.

btw, in Europe the last models of W168 A-Class A210 EVO-AMG come with AMG badge despite its non-AMG engine.

This is nothing new.
Ouf Merc wants more and more clients and they are pulling from that other brand.
From personal experiance i have seens tons of 318 BMW's with the M// Badge, and even worse there is now this infestation of AMG, Brabus badges on C180k's.
