New F1-Inspired AMG Supercar Could Be in the Works

Rumor has it Mercedes-Benz’s AMG is considering another high-performance standalone model along the lines of the hot AMG GT S. Except this one will be inspired by the brand’s F1 car, possibly packaged as a new mid-engine hybrid.

This is very exciting news. The last time the Silver Arrows were dominant in F1 Mercedes gave us the world's first hypercar in the Gullwing and ended with the legendary 300SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe. This car could be very, very special.

Carbon tub with a high-revving turbo 6 paired with electrification, KERS, active aero, 4 wheel steering, carbon brakes, active engine mounts, and a lightning quick transmission for a 'Ring time around 6:50 with those iconic Gullwing doors? I'll take mine in Silberpfeil Silver.

How about a team racing some prototypes in the Tudor IMSA series ? The advertising and exposure would be a fraction of the cost of Formula 1 and reach more in the US market ... We have to remember the W194 prototypes successes before the W196 SLRs and later the W198 production Gull wings... Seemed to work out nicely ..
