G63 Lane Assist??? Can you disable permanently?

I can't be the only one who hates this feature. It scares the crap out of you when it jerks the vehicle back into the lane. Can it be permanently disabled rather than having to push the button for 3 seconds each time you start the vehicle? Please save me!

It shouldn't do that if you use your turn signal. Does it?

I know this is an old thread. The lane assist feature is completely adjustable w/o recoding on my AMG GT. It would be surprising to me if it is not on other models. When I first got my car, lane assist was activated and I remember immediately shutting it off using the instructions below. That was two years ago, so I kinda forgot about how I did it.

From my owner's manual:

Yesterday, I drove through a thunder storm. The storm was moving east, and the heavy, interstate traffic was catching up with and moving through it. So I was in it for over an hour. Many of the slower vehicle in traffic in the right-hand and center lanes were using their flashers. For much of the time, the Lane Assist had a better idea of where the lane markings were than I did, and my radar cruise control had a better idea of where the vehicle ahead of me was. I could just barely see its taillights. I just sat back with my finger tips on the steering wheel and let Active Steering steer my E450. All at 60-70 mph. It was the automotive equivalent of Instrument Flight Rules in aviation!
