Can't fit 10 gallons in a 5-gallon bucket....
According to the press release, the GL can carry 43.8 cubic feet of cargo with the third row stowed.
With the third row stowed in the R, there is 42.2 cubic feet of cargo room.
I guess it is pretty safe to assume that the GL will suffer from the same lack of cargo space as the R when all its seats are being utilized (the R has only 19.4 cubic feet of storage space with the third row up). At least the designers of the GL had the foresight to design a more attractive roof rack than the one on the R.

Bentley Arnage Red Label
I have been looking at all the "Large" suv's on the market because we are having our second kid (2 in car seats) and have a 175lb St.Bernard that gets the back with the rear seat folded down to himself when we go back and forth to our beach house. Wife doesn't want Suburban,Yukon XL size so options are Navigator, regular Yukon, new Escalade,Infiniti Q56. Right now I have to say I am most impressed with the Infiniti. I would like to see this GL but it sounds like it might be a bit small. Anyone have opinions on the above?

in the $60-$80K range.
Wish my kids weren't hell on cars....I think I am going to go Armada or Infinity....would break my heart to look back and see juice flowing all over the new Nappa leather. Course QX56 runs upper 50's so who knows?

the problem I see is that this thing will be hot when new, they will be full list price.
the qx56 will be soft and very aggressively priced (unlike when they were new)
we have an 04 armada and truely love the size and power, but I will surely bump up to the qx when the my lease is over. the interior fit and finish is worth the few dollars more.

I would expect prices to be closer to it's competition (Escalade, Navigator, Infinity QX56, etc..). Expect prices on the base model to be upper $50's low $60's and should be able able to get one nicely equiped under $70-$75K.

looks good!
i just find more info on the GL:
http://www.cartoday.com/content/news...ge.asp?in=7697
so they're not replacing the G-class. i think that's a good choice. MB needs to have a bigger SUV to complete against the range rover etc. And they need the off-road ability of the G-class. the only thing that MB needs now is something in the X3 range.(i heard it's going be the X-class) it's going to be nice if MB going to have a coupe (two door) version of the M-class(or the "X-class"). i think there will be a market for that.

opps.. i forgot to put "now" at my location.. will add that later.. i'm staying in South Africa now.. there's alot "big mama's" here. but other than those people, i think it will be quite popular for those who is single or just married where they want a coupe like the C coupe but also want some offroad fun. MB have a 2 door G-class cabriolet already. other companies also have that like the Land Rover Freelander and the Mitsubishi Pajero. both have two door version. so surely there is a market for that.
