Came from Yukon XL and missed the room
Had white vehicles forever and the PE 450 being black was too much to keep clean (easily the best looking SUV hands down when clean but just tore me up to see the fingerprints, ect)
I put a good amount of miles (28,200 since purchase in late May) and the 20's at 365 per tire and two sets a year minimum, was not cool.

Just came from test driving the GL. Coming from a Yukon XL too; definately will miss the room. Notwithstanding the GL's fit and finish is above the Yukon, I'm thinking the room difference maybe too great.

Coming from a regular Denali, the GL handles so much better at highway speeds. It just feels so much safer and glued to the road. Also lots of difference in wind noise. The GL is like driving inside a vault. With the GL there will be less room for day to day junk left in the back. For trips get a roof container. For me, didn't want to deal with the manual fold down, take out, 60lb seats. Most importantly, the GL is the only one that has ample protection for the third row. Curtain airbags for the third row and stronger steel sealed the deal for me. Knock on wood, I've had no shakes and rattles, which is something Motor Trend noticed as well.

I had an Escalade for 3 years. The main reason we sold it was lack of "usable" room. With the 3rd row seats up, there is less usable room than in the back of the GL with the seats up. 3rd row seats in Escalade could not be more incovenient either..

The end point is the GL is a much nicer drive with all the toys etc. but the XL is more functional for a work vehicle (horse business). Having saddles and equipment in a box on the roof won't cut it.
Too bad.
Sorry for highjacking the original post.

No doubt GL is the winner on performance (although after two sets of OEM 20" tires I still strongly caution anyone to exceed 50 - 55 in the rain)
I have a rooftop Thule cargo carrier which was nice on the GL.
But to say the room is even remotely close is inaccurate the width is what kills you in the GL the length is close but with the 3rd seats up you can't even get a set a golf clubs in the car.
