The m119 v8 in my 400E had an alloy block sans piston liners. Impregnated with special crystal molecules that acted as the wear surface, not the aluminum. No problems of burning oil after 200k is commonplace. Small block bimmer v8's weren't so lucky, but MB motors are still holding up. FYI

MBUSI should have someone reading these forums regularly!
No, i understood what MBUSI told your dealer, i'm saying your dealer should call other dealers, since MY dealer had the part...

Once I took the time to re-read your post, sober <kidding>, I realized what you said. It was this response that made me think two things; a lot of people are having this problem so they may have run out of the parts (happens, if only to prove a failure of stock management), or contacting MBUSI they were told they'd have to get the part from Germany because it's a new one.

The fact is this; I appreciate all the support I'm getting here and it keeps me in the loop. It annoys me to no end that I have to go through these channels to get the information on this premium car I've just purchased, but I'm going to drive the crap out of it once it's working properly. When the warranty is over, so is the honeymoon, and it's going on the block. Unless, of course, it proves itself to me before then!
