Red Rock Resort

I checked back with the Red Rock Resort and their room rates have come down for the weekend we'll be in Vegas. A room with a view of the strip if $279 per night and a canyon view room is $305. Much less than what I was paying at the Mirage.

I took NJ's recommendation and booked a room.

You won't be sorry Jen. It is really a nice place and 10 restaurants, spa, bowling alley, movie and a huge casino. There is a shopping center right across the street and BJ's brewery is a stones throw away. You are minutes away from RR Canyon and the LV Beltway is right outside the hotel. You can take that to Flamingo or Sahara and be downtown in 20 minutes.

I'm looking forward to it! I may just have to book a spa session as well

I just visited my MB dealer yesterday and we got some bad news. Our GL production was pushed back over a week. I am now very concerned that I will not be able to make the trip with you all. My new build date is October 11th. What is everyone's experience with delivery time to the west cost after build date? Any feedback would be great. I hope that they can deliver it quickly!

If you can be sure the 11th is a firm completion date, you are probably looking at 15-20 days from completion. Mine took 19 days to Denver but the train got lost somewhere...:-) I doubt you will have your GL in time for the meet.

Even if you don't have the GL in time for the meet, you're still welcome to join us!

I agree with Jen. Come join in the fun and get a first hand experience what your new ride will feel like before it even gets to you.

Thanks for the information. I hope that I will have it as long as I don't have any train problems. If we do not get it in time we might still join everyone in our lowly s550; I will feel so inferior to all that muscle though!

Am I sensing a feeling of inadequacy and loss of manliness? There's plenty of items available on the Internet that might help.

Just spoke with a buddy tonight who is staying at your hotel right now and he says it's great. He did a run tonight that took him out to the red rocks sign that Jack has shown us all. He thinks the location will produce some great pictures. I told him he has no idea how good the pictures will be.

See you soon!

Thanks! It certainly looks nice. I'm trying to talk my mother-in-law to coming with me, since my husband won't be able to join me.

I think the exposure and focusing functions are much improved. I note less post processing needed now. Thanks Mary.

Lunch at BJ's

I will be going over to BJ's today and firm up the reservation for lunch on Saturday. I have a total of 18 and they are somewhat flexible on the number as long as it is above 10. They can add a few if necessary. Separate checks will be fine with them and there will be a fixed gratuity of 15% added to the checks.

Looking forward to seeing you all there after a "ride in the park" called Red Rock...

Saturdays Lunch at BJ's Brewery

I firmed up reservations today at BJ's Brewery. I reserved for 20 at 1:30PM on Saturday, October 27th. The seating will be in a "back room" area where they handle large parties. A 17% Gratuity will be added to a single check, so we can decide to ante up our share per person based on what we order and collect the proceeds to pay the bill. We will have the space for 2 hours.

Since we plan to meet at 9:00 AM at Calico Basin Road for pictures and then go to Red Rock's 13 mile scenic drive, a 1:30 lunch should be adequate time for sightseeing. Bj's is probably a 10-15 minute drive from Red Rock.

I took a quick run though RR this AM and there are about 4-5 pull off areas to view the scenery and take some pics. We can also stop along the way since the road is 2 lanes and one way. The Summit point is about 4700' and if it is a cool day or windy, a sweater or light jacket may be needed for some.

Here is a shot I took this morning by just stopping on the roadside. Really a pretty nice place and only minutes from downtown and the strip.

Jack,

The shots we're going to get during our drive is going to be great.

Jen... I hope your husband is able to make it with his uniform. We may need him for crowd control.
