Did they ever substantiate the AMG GL? I remember spy pics of a lowered GL with quad exhaust sitting on some huge wheels...

There is a pretty strong feeling (submitted from some well informed posters) that there will be no AMG GL. Since they have put the AMG 21" Wheels on this model, I think that is an indication there are no immediate plans for one.

The exhaust on the GL550 has double exhaust exit pipes on each side.

I see from the Autospies pictures that their vehicle has the same light birch wood trim that is on my PE. IMHO, the rich look and feel of the birch makes quite a statement and feels like fine furniture. It certainly contrasts better with certain interior colors. I looked on mbusa's build your own section, but it unfortunately has the Henry Ford (you can have the Model T in any color as long as it's black) approach to trim: you can have any wood color as long as it's dark walnut. It's a shame that such a complete vehicle would be lacking trim choices like Napa leather and different wood colors. Once again, mbusa corporate decision-making at its best .

Really pretty easy...just highlight the address in the site box and open your menu to "Copy." Click on copy and that address is now on your clipboard. Post your message on the forum and then open your menu and click on "Paste" and it will insert the address into your post.

I hear you...all options are controlled by the bean counters.

Personally I like the dark burl walnut, especially with black but I fully understand that colors (inside and out) are personal preferences. MB marketing does not understand this...:-)

Most buyers are pretty conservative - they want black/grey/tan interiors and dark wood , so that's what you mostly get. The " blonder " woods on some Audis, Volvos and even the current Lincoln Navigator , while looking like high end furniture, turns off more buyers according to some sales people I've spoken too. Same goes for the richer looking browns, bricks and saddle colored interior leathers ..I think they are by far nicer than black/grey/tan... but again , buyers " love it or hate it " according to sales people. So what does a sales mgr do ... order everything unsold in silver /black or black/black , I guess.

I think MB sales force knows what they're doing.. My GL550 is coming in black on black and I couldn't change colors if I wanted early build date (they ordered it that way because they knew it would be an easy sell)

Wow, nice pictures. The GL looks great in dark colors; just too difficult to keep clean-looking for our preference.

Speaking of going the extra mile for a customer: my order was "locked" over 3 weeks ago, but my rep was able to get the iPod interface added yesterday.

I took my car to get washed at the local dealer today and stopped by the showroom to see if they had a GL550 yet. Told me tomorrow they would have it on the floor and it was being prepped. So hopefully I will see on "in the flesh" this week sometime.

I'm not sure your digital camera will have enough memory if it is indeed available to see in the flesh

LOL...I won't take my Canon SLR, just my little S230 model in my pocket and politely ask if I could shoot a few pics.

On the memory front the SLR has a 2GB Micro Drive and a 4GB Flash card so I think I will be alright at delivery in Denver...:-)

I did another movie with the images Greg sent me. I am trying to develop some knowledge of this iMovie program so I can integrate some video with the still shots and make some nice presentations. So this is just another intro and then the slides of the GL. There are two sizes...mobile and medium but I am impressed with the quality of the video using the built in iCam on my laptop.

Not really, that is a VPC installed accessory. So you can add it up until B3 I believe.
