All I can say so far is WOW what a truck!!
I thought I loved my Range Rover.

Just got the call I've been waiting for. My truck is being prepped and I pick it up tomorrow AM. A couple of things worth mentioning. I had decided too late in the process that I wanted the lighted door sills. I asked now about dealer install and was quoted a grand. Decided to take a pass. They are installing blue tooth adapter which they say is needed to integrate phone with the MB system. $400. I had talked to them about a policy they are offering to cover damage to the wheels. New York and our infamous potholes....Originally he had quoted me a one time price of apx $700 but now he found out that AMG wheels demand a $995 price. I was considering at 7 but I'm not sure at 1K.

Check on the details of the wheel insurance. I have the Deluxe package for 3 years at $585. $40 tire repair or full replacement of tire and wheels up to $5000 for term of insurance.

That sounds like it is worth it. Is the wheel ins. through your auto ins. company or through MB?

Through the dealer so I don't know if it is a MB product or just one they use? I will find out when I take delivery next week (at least I hope next week...:-)

I've had problems with non-auto company equipment insurance policies. If possible, get the MB policy, not after market.

I am pretty sure it is a MB policy but not sure. I trust my rep to do what is ri.ght so I am sure it will be okay. Thanks for the tip

Jack...I will check with my salesperson, but I'm wondering if the premium is not location specific. I'm not sure if I have the right # or not but is it Route 15 out of Vegas? Whatever, I'm sure it doesn't look like the East River Drive. Dealer called me to tell me my truck is attracting a crowd. Half jokingly he asked me if I wanted to flip it? He said I would make out like a bandit.

tire/wheel protection options are provided through the dealer, not by MB or MBUSA. Only extended warranty is provided by MB and possible maintenance.

I-15 is correct going southwest toward LA. The other end of I-15 going North meets at the "spaghetti bowl" with US95/93 going North. They have been working about 3-4 years to make this from a 6 lane to a 10 lane (both ways) outlet so it may just look like Westside Drive...:-) Very possibly the NY fees are higher than here, although we have one of the highest insurance rates in the country.

Yeah, we drive down to Vegas a couple of times a year from Reno and that interchange is really bad. I don't know if they're ever going to finish construction and get it right. Nevada Jack, I assume you're in Vegas?

onkish, any chance of adding two more to the Las Vegas event in October? Sounds like we should have one or two of our GL550's by then.

Yep...almost 14 years now.

The place is still growing so fast that they no more than finish a road and they have to start all over. 93/95 is about 6 months away from being completed and will help the load of traffic from the NW (Summerlin) areas getting in and out of town. But that interchange at 93/95/I-15 will always be a mess no matter what they try.

Hey Dodson - the more the merrier and we will be glad to have you and your Dad join us. I can't speak for the Friday night dinner since Stumble is working on that but I am sure we will figure something out. Worse case we will have my kids sit in our laps and you and your dad can have their seats

Where are you guys planning on staying? We are trying to find a group of 10 people who will need rooms to try to get a discounted rate at one of the places on strip.

Bill and I would be up for a discounted rate at one of the strip hotels if you can swing it...what places are you thinking about? Maybe we can make the magic #10, yet! We usually use the HIlton chain but I don't particularly like the Vegas Hilton (actually, we hate it-- reminds me of a disorganized zoo ). We usually end up at the Mirage. Anyway, just wanted to let you know. Looking forward to seeing all you GL owners (and those beautiful beasties). I have been following the posts regarding this LV meet (at the suggestion of HIMSELF, NJ) and have enjoyed the evolving saga--so much so that as you can see, we asked if a CL could crash the party! So, let me know what transpires with respect to the hotel situation.

Dodson and I are staying at the Rio, just because we get points. Also, the rooms are larger and they have plenty of covered parking. The only downside is that it's off the strip. That shouldn't be a problem since you'll be driving a GL.

I'll probably be staying through Oct. 31 so I can attend the SEMA (auto) show which starts on Oct. 30.

Is that the standard factory tint on the windows? I like how dark they are.

I've got this same vehicle on order (Iridium Silver)- waiting impatiently.

From what I can see, this does look to be the standard factory tint and, yes, it is plenty dark.
