Kleemann KD Box

Kleemann KD Box
I had Cory from Kleemann install the KD-Box last week. It literally took him about 5 minutes. I wasn't sure what to expected but I've been very impressed.
There's a substantial difference in throttle response, acceleration, and passing power. It's a bigger difference than expected. This weekend we went skiing at Vail and I averaged 24.5 MPG for the round trip. The drive to Vail is at a very high altitide and I didn't expect such great fuel mileage.
I was a bit skeptical of the performance claims but am now convinced that it's a worthwhile mod. You can't go wrong with this one.

Glad you can feel the difference. I think Kleemann shipped mine out yesterday. Can’t beat more hp and more torque and still get better mileage.

Look at the dealer list to call for a quote of $825 plus or minus.

If it's easy put on, it should be just as easy to take it off before seeing the dealer...and since it is a piggy-back unit, there will be no alterations to the ecu for the dealer to discover.
G55K...Did Cory take off the engine cover or anything else for the connections?

One online vendor said the KD-Box can provide up to 270 Hp and 450 lb/ft of torque.
I’m not really sure where it goes, but I’ll find out next week after I get my 1000 mile service and then head out to my guy and watch him put it on.

Cory just popped the cover off and plugged it in. Very easy install that literally took less than 10 minutes.
It would be easy to remove and untraceable.

It's a night and day difference. The drive train and tranny can easily handle the extra power. Mercedes uses the same tranny in the GL320 as they do in the ML63, etc.

It's not an electronic part. It's actually a piggyback upgrade to the ECU that changes timing and fuel curves (sometimes boost depending upon the tuner). Look on-line for diesel mods, you'll be amazed. The Kleemann upgrade is actually very conservative when compared to the domestic diesel ECU upgrades.

Mileage improves.
Why doesn't an E55 come from the factory making 600HP like it does after going to Kleemann or Renntech? Kind of a silly question, isn't it?

mostly its not tuned for maximum performance to appease the "masses". its tuned by the factory for a "window" of performance. From Old Ladies who drive on Sunday, to someone who tows crap with it, or stomps on it from light to light.
Its not hard to digest. all cars are managed by ECU's. Tapping into that "reserve power" is done by changing ECU mapping.

Installation is easy on a 320 but on my 420 it's a *****.
1 hour or so, but well worth it, gives such a boost!
They dynoed an E420 at kleemann here in Copenhagen and it got 426 hp and 775 lb ft. Not bad!!!
Last week i drove 300 km and avaraged 23 us mpg (10.4 L/100 km) going between 85 and 95 mph all the way. Very good for a 2.6 tons vehicle

I remember bypassing the governor on my minibike when I was a kid. I couldn't believe how much faster that thing would run, almost like it was getting a shot of NO2, until it kicked a rod right out of the block.
