Angry GRRR! Battery DEAD AGAIN!!!

This time I called roadside and they are coming out and replacing the battery. Although I don't think it is a problem with the battery. I will be taking to a different dealership next week and give them a crack at it. This is so frustrating! Thanks for letting me vent

Vent on Girl! And, don't worry about it one bit.

If this was happening to my GL, I know I would be furious. Especially, if I lived as far as you do from the dealer. It's a royal pain in the butt.

Good luck and keep us posted.

That stinks, Mom. Remember in CA, lemon law kicks in after 3 failures of the same kind. Hope you won't have to go down that road.

Thanks guys! Roadside came out and replaced the battery. They ran some simple diagnostics and said everything checked out good. Now the waiting game begins....

There must be a current drain somewhere. Keep pressing. If they say they found nothing, that just means they didn't find the problem. Good luck

Lightbulb Parasitic battery drain

I had a problem with the rear lift door, a wire was being abraded someplace and there was a parasitic draw on the battery and one morning the car would not start. They worked on it for two days and found the abraded wire. There is supposed to be a TSB out on this. They had to remove the headliner to get to the wire. A clue to this being the problem was that sometimes the rear door lifted and some times it started it's run and just stopped.
No further problems with the door but, in December the battery went dead on the car. Based on the prior problem with the abraded wire, I took the position that the battery was damaged by that incident, I got a new battery under the warranty.
You may want to explore this possibility with your dealer and have them look up the TSB on this.

Because that TSB you looked up is dated in '08 and I had my problem in '07 I went back and looked at the work order. It states "...Verified complaint, trunk intermitenly opens and closes. Ran short test fault - 9502 B24/16 has short circuit. Removed headliner. removed hydraulic unit for tailgate. Found wires for trunk travel sensor were pinched together. Cut out section of bad wire. Cut new wires for sensor. Spliced and soldered new wires into harness. Test trunk. Trunk is now operating properly.
Maybe this will help somebody...........

bring the car to the dealer and make sure they contact MB there is a temporary fix for the battery draw, but only can be performed if MB is contacted

Thanks everyone! I am going to take it in and mention the TSB. There was one occasion where the rear hatch started to open but didn't. You could hear the motor running like it was wanting to go up but it wasn't moving. I hit the button again and it closed completely, then I pressed the button again and it opened properly. Hmmm, maybe the culprit? We will find out soon

Any luck with finding the root cause of your dead battery? My brand new GL battery has died twice in the past week. I second your frustration.

No, I took it in and they could not find any type of draw on the battery this time I fully believe it is the DVD player. Just the other night I got home late and when I shut off the car I could hear a humming sound. It was coming from the DVD unit. It was never turned on (I was driving alone) I went back out in 15 min. and it was off I have a feeling it is only a matter of time before it is dead again. This time it will go to MB on a flat bed.

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this too. Do you have the rear DVD player?
