Wireless Headphones for RSE

Has anyone with a pre-2009 RSE system gotten wireless headphones to use with their system? (Those cords are a real pain with little ones on long trips.) If so, can you recommend the best way to accomplish this?

I see a number of a wireless infrared transmitters/headphones combos out there, but they all look like the transmitters have to be hard-wired for power. I would prefer something that could be removed when not in use. Thanks for any info.

Could go bluetooth....you need to charge up the pieces but you plug on end into the headphone jack and then the headphones will pick up the sound....

you can have wireless headphones where the transmitter is wired up behind the command. Its pretty simple: something any audio shop can do...

Interesting, thanks. I wonder if this can support more than one set of headphones? (If not, I've got 2 unhappy campers.) Also wonder if it would interfere with the telephone bluetooth system?

Thanks. Do you know what would be involved to do this (technically and labor-wise) and what the cost range would be? I was thinking about a relatively inexpensive system that could be plugged into the aux jack when needed and removed when not. This sounds like a more expensive option.

I think you have to buy one set per headrest...should not interfere with your phone's bluetooth as each of the pieces are "paired" together when you setup the system. But you'd probably have to buy two sets...don't think you can pair up two headphones to one transmitter unit.

Do a google search, I'm sure there are others out there like the logitech that may be cheaper.....

I think the kit with 2 hedphones and the transmitter runs about $80 or so and a shop might charge you an hour labor ($50-$100). it really depends on the rates in your area. The actual work involves removing the radio and soldering a set of audio cables to the harness behind the radio to tap the rear audio feed. As I said its pretty straightforward stuff and we still get mb's with the factory RSE from time to time where the owner wants wireless headphones for the same reason you do...
