2007 ML 500

SAM recall for power liftgatge

so the dealer did the sam recall update for me and now my liftgate does have the chime sound when opening and closing.

i could have sworn on the 09's it still had the audible chime. can anyone confirm this for me?

also, when closing the trunk from the inside driver door switch, it doesn't close sometimes. do you think this has to do with the sam update? because i'm starting to believe so since prior to visiting the dealer, i had none of the issues i mentioned above.

Well, you are driving the ML and it indeed does chime. I had an 07 ML 320 CDI and it chimed. Never had any issues in two years. I have an 08 GL 320 CDI and had issues with the hatch not closing properly and drained the battery... twice. The sam recall didn't help. They actually had to adjust the latch on the liftgate and that solved the problem. No problems in about 10 months since they adjusted it.
By the way, the GL hatch does not chime when opening or closing as does your ML.
If it is not working on the door, take it back under warranty and have them fix it. Good luck.

Well it certainly chimes when opening or closing OUR '08 GL 's hatch !

The chime is something that can be turned on or off when you are hooked up to star diagnose machine at the dealer. My wife is so used to it on my 07 GL that when her 09 R came without, she complained so much they finally "figured it out". They have yet to get it to chime when putting it into Park from a gear, which still drives us both nuts-that's something we both like.

Interesting as mine does not and many others have said that their GL's do not chime when the hatch opens and closes!

I own a 2009 Sand Beige GL450. Our power tailgate has an audible chime when opening and closing alike. We also had a 2008 GL450 but sold it....it also had the chimes as well...however I was at a dealership today seeing the 2010 Gl450's and some chime while some don't.
