A/C Problem 09 550
Has anyone else had issues with their AC cutting in/out? We've already had a few mid-90 degree days here in Texas, so this is not good with two small kids in the car.
Took it in and they first tried to replace the compressor---no luck. So now they are having to order some wiring part from Germany and not sure how long it is going to be. Already been a week.
The loaner C300 is no GL.

Yes, it was fixed after they replaced the part. I think it ended up being one of the panels or switches on the front that was defective. Replaced under warranty and it has been fine ever since.

bringing this up again - my '09 GL550 blows cold on the passenger side; lukewarm at best for the driver and the rear. Sometimes, I get a rare blast of cold on the driver's side. Seems to me like an issue with the ducting between heating/cooling, but have others gone through this only to find that it was the climate control switch panel?

that's the word that was on the tip of my tongue, the little servo motors that control the blend doors. Ten years ago I lived overseas and had a Nissan Skyline GT-R; the blend door actuator failed and I never bothered to fix it. I disconnected the control arm and just reached down and flipped the door by hand.
But I'm older and lazier now; everything better damned well work by the push of a button!

it's not mechanical, at least it appears that way. It's nighttime and 71 degrees ambient. I started the car, and was hit by a veritable ice storm of air. same temp all three zones. I waited until I was literally shivering, to confirm that it was well and truly cold, then I cranked the heat and warmed up. It got all the in-between temps too.
so where are the temp sensors, that are clearly only operable at night?

dealer found a pinhole leak in a hose that was leaking, but not when the hoses weren't hot (like at noon on a hot day). Replaced and recharged at no cost to me.

evening update - ran the car all day in blazing sun. couldn't get any colder. funny how much one leak can cause one to pull out their hair in stress (the Wife)...and pressure me to fix it! lol
ETA: it's frustrating when people post a problem, then don't post the fix or how well it worked. Hence my updates~~
