Changing behavior of the LED daylight lights
I have a 2010 GL350 with Bi-Xenon moving head lamps and LED driving lights (no fog lamps)
I really like the lights and LEDs but they LEDs can not be operated independently, and their are no fog lamps (I drive in heavy fog sometimes)
In the "0" position with the day light driving setting on, they come on nice and bright. But if it gets dark the main lights come on automatically (even in "0"), and the LEDs dim. My questions:
1. Is it possible to have the LEDs stay bright without the main lamps so I can use them as fog lamps?
2. Is it possible to have the LEDs stay bright when the main lamps are operating?
Thanks,
Robert

It should be obvious the LEDs are not "aimed" to be foglights.
And, they're NOT "driving lights," they are daytime running lights, i.e to be seen and not to see with.
German auto industry has concluded that when you have HID main lighting, you have no need for separate foglights.
If you think you do, your strips of LEDs are NOWHERE NEAR what you want.

I was wondering this to. I noticed if you turn the lights all the way to the right and pull out for the "rear fog lamp" and then turn it off then LED drl lights will come on super bright for a second or two and then return to their dimmer night time position. is there no way to keep these on full bright at night?

This is one of the drawbacks of the newer models. I have an 07 with bi-xenon. I love the cornering capabilities of these lights that 1) turn the main beams slightly in the direction of the corner and 2) turn on the fog lamp on the inside corner. It looks like with the '11 models you don't get 2). Granted there's no 'fog' light to turn on, what hoping the LED gave some of the same effect.

Although the 2007-2009 models may have cornering lights, the 2010-2011 LED's sure look cool (although they look yellow in comparison to those on the E class or S class and the ML LED's suck). Too bad there weren't any inventory GL350's in L.A. when I purchased last year
I'm stuck with the 2010 dual fogs/DRL's, but they are helpful as I drive a lot in fog.

Even in bright daylight my mains xenons come on (green lamp desk light) with the LEDs. It wired to me that I can put the switch in the 0 position and the mains are on. I'm guessing it b/c in Canada DRL are mandatory to be always on..

Correct....and.....if you have the LED's programmed to be on all the time, that function overrides the main "on/off" rotary switch for the lights and the headlights will come on and go off automatically REGARDLESS if the rotary switch is in the "auto" or "off" position! A bit of weirdness that even my very good MB tech can't explain!
