2011 GL350 Bluetech with sport package for wife and kids
Hi everybody, I have been a member for some time....firstly as my name/title as a first time and likely not the last time as an AMG owner and loving every minute of it. From here I came became anamoured with the Merecedes product so I aquired a 2009 ML350 a couple of years ago for my wife and babies, only to realize that after installing two car seats for a 22mnth old and newborn we had no room in the rear seats. EVerywhere we went with inlaws or my parents we had to take two vehicles and quicly realized...."should of got the GL", well now I just bought my wife and two children the 2011 GL350 Bluetech with pretty much everything including the sport package which comes with the massive 21" AMG wheels and flares, this truck looks awesome and so far so good.

That is sweet. I would look into running boards, as they really help with kids, and keeping the slush off the doors. I was just at my dealer, and they had a new ML sport package that had beautiful seats with white piping and stuff. Does the GL sport pack come with any interior upgrades?

Thanks guys, as far as the running boards, we had them on the 09 ML and while they were great when we had the infant as getting her seat in and out made it alot less painful as you would step on the running board. But since then, both of our kids, which my son is 39 mnths and our daughter is almost 20 mnths they are in their own chair, we have no need with the step, besides, in the winter it really does dirty your back of your pants.
We are very lucky here in Canada as we have this Sport Package available which in my opinion was the deal maker. It comes with the AMG 21's wrapped in 295/40 pirelli scorpions and with the wheel arch flairs, it really does make it look like a GL550, with pretty good gas mileage. I also believe that there are no run flats as they provide you with a compressor and a temporary fix kit. One thing I sort of regret is that friggin rear seat entertainment, amazing for sure, but our kids holler constantly to turn them on, so good and bad.

You can always add the flares - I'm in the process of doing that and have 22's here for my 2010. Makes a nice diff I think!
PS - Sweet ride 1st amg! Did you have the truck when the snow was falling, curious on how the 21's did in the snow? I've got the stock 20's on mine with a set of 22's I'll be putting on soon...

LOL - So true. All odd sizes, 19" and 21" are much more expensive. Then again, you could always order from our friends to the south and pick them up in the US somewhere (TireRack will deliver anywhere). Point being, there's always options. Thats what made me opt for the 22's.. cheaper rubber.

The reason I say this is that I had a line on some OE 21" wheels, so I looked into rubber, and the tire shop could have sold me 22" wheels and tires for pretty close to the 21" rubber.

I have got some numbers, they are about 500 a piece if i want the winter tires, the ones on there now are rated all season, but I dont know if I would trust them a whole lot.....I love the look of these wheels and they are staggered just right, for me, the price of the winter rubber suits me fine as I would prefer this look all year long, rather than buying the more common size of aftermarket wheels and rubber...to each their own I guess. I am more conserned about how difficult it is to get these 21" snow from pirelli rather than anything else.

My "tire" guy said to actually place an order sometime in June, there are only so many that pirelli make in this size, so we'll see what happens. Are you in canada as well? Were are you?
