My workaround for A2DP Bluetooth streaming.

Equipment used:

* Scosche reVIVE II Dual USB... $15 (Amazon)
There were plenty to choose from but I chose this particular one because it has a 2.1A & 1A USB port. This will support anything from a smartphone to an iPad or Xoom!
* BlackBerry Bluetooth Stereo Gateway $47 (Amazon)

* Two black twisty ties to blend in with interior of glove compartment.

* USB cable to power the BlackBerry Bluetooth Stereo Gateway

* USB micro cable to charge the DroidX

How it works….. My DroidX shows two connections:

  • MB Bluetooth (Bluetooth earpiece icon)
  • Blackberry Stereo Gateway (headphone icon)

When listening to music via the Bluetooth connection and a call comes through, the sound is muted like normal until the call has ended.

While listening to music via the Bluetooth connection, calls are placed normally.

Great idea! I've been using the BB Bluetooth for media for a while...

My Q: Where did you find the AUX port (is it male or female) for the output of the BB bluetooth connection?

I've seen adaptors for iPod to AUX and iPod to Bluetooth..

Thanks!

ALL that is needed is the equipment posted above and the glove box cable that came with the SUV. Not sure whether male or female but I posted everything that is needed to make this work. It works flawlessly. :-)

Wow...after endless search I found this thread and what a relief. Thanks for the info. I will get these stuff from Best Buy today and will let you guys know how it goes. Does it matter what kind of Benz you have and will it work as long as you have a auxiliary port? Thanks a bunch

You're welcome! I am not sure if you can find the "exact" items at Best Buy. I ordered everything from Amazon.

I got the Scosche Dual USB and the new/current version of the Blackberry music gateway and it didn't sound too good. The sound was very low and alot of humming noise in the background. I returned the blackberry music gateway and got the Aluratek (link below) and it sounds great. Louder then the hard wired plug in from the aux to the iphone. Anyhow, thanks for the idea and now I'm happy with my new toy being able to stream music wirelessly...yeah

Just Got the Aluratek too ( went to the source, sold out, saw at staples and got it there). Works well, even pauses the music when a call comes in on the iPhone. Sound is good too and works well with songza and rdio. Very happy for 30$. Thanks for the tip!

I like the idea of this, but is there a way to make it even cleaner?

Can you pull the power from the iPod dock with a cable like this (below) to power the Aluratek or BB gateway and then use the standard 3.5mm audio cable for the sound?

Anyone try this?

That's what I did - use the ipod cable for power and send audio over the aux input. I posted about it in another thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/5309830-post55.html

In short, I used this cable to provide the power: dockBoss+ by CableJive (it has to be the "+" version).
Amazon Amazon
.
It's a little pricey ($30), but it was the only one with the female 30pin that I could find at the time. There are cheaper cables out there though, like this one ($9): http://www.usbfever.com/index_eprodu...oducts_id=2736 .
