Extended warranty
I know this topic has been discussed so many times, but I just want you guys to pinpoint me that where I need to be reached at.
My wife 2007 GL550's warranty just expired July of this year and want to get extended warranty.
Would you advice me where I should be calling? I want total coverages with reasonable price.
Thanks
About $3k. Been happy with them so far: Changed both Air struts in the front and a heat exchanger valve: The warranty paid for itself already.
$250.00 deductible.
It will cover just about everything on and in the car including COMAND nav, airmatic, even seat heaters and parking sensors. I have plenty of MB, BMW, Audi, and other clients with this warranty and everyone is happy. I can even provide references from MBWorld members.
Thanks.

What is the best warranty for me? I will take delivery of a 2012 GL350 in 3 weeks. I plan on keeping this vehicle for approximately 8 years since I near retirement in 4 years and in the past I normally purchased a new car every 3 years. This will be my first Mercedes and knowing the cost of repairs and service I want to enter a lenghty ownership with some piece of mind. Please let me know what you think is the best warranty and best time to purchase extended warranty.
Thanks

There is a $100 per visit deductible (meaning if you get three things fixed in a single visit you only pay $100).

Routine maintenance and service is not covered by an extended warranty. This is mechanical, electrical, and seals/gaskets breakdown insurance.
If you get me your VIN# to brucem105@comcast.net, I can get you quotes so you can see how much it will cost to extend it to the time/mileage you want. Then I can guess (only a guess) how much it might be to wait and do it at a later date with a shorter warranty to end up in the same place.
The warranty companies are not dumb, though, they know their risk is lowest when car is youngest and has factory warranty remaining. So they price it most aggressively now, as opposed to 4 years from now when you have 40K miles.
For example (these are just numbers I am making up out of thin air), buying a warranty on your new car, when it has zero miles and full factory warranty remaining, might be $4500 to get you to 2019. Waiting four years, when the car has 40K miles, and then buying a four year warranty to get you to the same 2019 expiration, might cost $5000. Or something like that.

I would expect the price to be best at purchase. The warranty company knows that you will pay now, but won't have a claim until the MB warranty expires, which will be a few years. Time value of money.
1. They are really only offering a one year extended warranty. If you buy a 5 year warranty when the car is new, and the car has a 4 year factory warranty, then the 5 year gives you a one year extension. So you're paying $2500 for a one year exclusionary extended warranty, which is not a bad deal at all.
2. They know they will not see a claim until after the 4 year warranty expires, so they can invest the premium they receive and earn returns for 4 years until they possibly have to pay out a claim from the reserves. That's how insurance works.
Yes, you can get a pro-rated refund if you cancel early.

I highly doubt you'd get the $2500 deal now for a 2 year/50,000 mile extension. Even at a small 5% annual return on the investment my $2500 would be worth over $3000 now.
Be sure to check on coverage (many times COMAND, etc isn't covered) to get an apples to apples quote.

First I'm not planning on keeping my GL too much longer - 1 year at the most. Second, I couldn't figure out any way that that would ever return on my investment if I did keep it 2 years.
