MB Tex vs Leather 2013

I have had my 2013 GL 450 for about three months with MB Tex. About four weeks ago I noticed the seat turning blue from my blue jeans. I have not had time to take it in to be serviced yet. Too busy with life! Plan on taking it in asap. Anyway I am pretty upset and wonder if anyone has had the same experience and how it was resolved? I have been at our second condo for a few days and have been driving my wife's ML with leather seats and notice a huge difference. For me the leather is much more comfortable, and is way more fitting in an eighty thousand dollar SUV. I am very upset to say the least as I let the salesman push the MB Tex just to get the deal done. I thought I needed the car ASAP but to be honest would have waited if I knew how disappointed I was going to be. First time working with the guy and trusted him which was a big mistake in general. My bad!

I have been reading different threads and see that quite a few people are satisfied with the MB Tex. My wife and I just had twins so maybe in time ill grow into them?

Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance!!

Cyrus

Blue Jeans will transfer to leather just the same. A high quality cleaner, like Leatherique Prestine Clean takes it right off. You can use it on MB tex too. Or probably other good cleaners will work. As preferring one over the other, I agree with the conclusion you have now come to.

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works beautifully on my wife's MB Tex - I highly recommend it

I also think the MB Tex may be more durable than leather - it doesn't get scratched up from my dog's claws.

Thanks for all that. The ideas as to how to clean and care for the seats is very helpful. I" ll take your advice. I had a 2005 CL 55 with the same light colored seats, of course leather and never had a problem with the color of my jeans wearing into the seat. I have only spent maybe 10 hours tops driving the GL and feel something is wrong woth the MB Tex which will turn into a long term problem. I'm away from home but when I get back ill be at the dealership ASAP! Hopefully Mercedes will figure it out. For me the whole deal again is, what happened to spending 70k on a car and not having to upgrade every damm feature they know you'll need anyway! Just build the cars more like they used to, jack up the price by 5k and the customer won't have to order their car in advance with the simple things it should be equipped with. Just my thoughts as a long term owner.

Same thing happened to me, but now I use a leather cleaner once a month, problem solved...

My last 4 MB's had leather seats. I specifically wanted the MB Tex seats and I'm very impressed with the durability. They hold up much better than leather and still look new after 130,000+ miles.

i had the same issue but with leather when we had a QX56 - grey leather and good blue jeans - dye transfer - i think diesel jeans even have a warning label -

the weird thing is that on our older W202 with Ash leather never had any dye transfer -

MB TEx is def more durable than the leather but i get what you are saying still doesn't feel as nice as leather - give it time and it will see more comfortable -

but use what the gents above used to keep it clean - we ended up leaving a light colored towel in the truck and sat on that - which agreed for a 70K truck you shouldn't have these issues.

I had macadamia leather in my 2007 - blue jeans marked the leather. I went with black leather in my 2013 and one of the reasons was it was easier to keep clean.

As for MBTex, I have never had it, but I do believe it has better longevity than the leather. It might not be quite as nice initially, so it's a tradeoff.
