2011 GL 450 Denso AC Compressor...2 different models??

So I am stuck on an issue and unfortunately I have not found a resolution, and my local Mercedes dealer hasn't given me an answer only because they can give me the OEM part # (ending in 1180), not based off the Denso part.

So when I do a AC Compressor search, what I'm finding are 2 specific compressors from Denso come up as matches. 471-1436 (https://www.densoproducts.com/product.aspx?zpid=27710) and 417-1594 (https://www.densoproducts.com/product.aspx?zpid=27765)

Now, if you go to their FITMENT tab, you see the 1436 fits the 2009-2012 year vehicles, and the 1594 fits the 2006-2008 vehicles. The visual picture of the 1436 has a bulkier front and also appears to be what is in my car. The 1594 has a thinner looking clutch.

Now, both of these based on certain search parameters appear to be "matches" for my 2011 GL 450. I just bought off Ebay (from one of the top sellers) the 1436 (because the photo used was 1436 and the item description specifically called out 1436. What I received, however, was 1594. Now, I've reached out to them already, and they told me that both are supposed to match, but doing a search they have found they don't have a 1436 to exchange for me. So my only option is to send back what I was sent and get a refund, then back to searching for the correct 1436.

Now, that said...CAN the 1594 work in my vehicle? That is what I'm unclear on. I don't mind going forward with it IF it does work, but I'm concerned going thru the trouble of replacing the Compressor only to find out something is off and it's not a match.

Why does this have to be done damn confusing.

No help on which one is correct, but if you have issues of the A/C only working intermittently after figuring out which one to use, take a look at: https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...-9006-a-2.html to see how to add the correct diode that replacement compressors apparently don't have.

What in the world.... That looks like a headache.

Well I took it to a local shop who works on Mercedes vehicles. They ran some tests, took out my old 134a, put more in to spec, checked ground to the compressor...determined it was failing and recommended a compressor replacement. I wouldn't even say it is intermittently working...it's not hot air, but it's not cold air.

I just went on Rockauto and got the cheapest one that said it was for vehicles with rear AC. Simple. Done. (plus added Diode, even though I think the unit came with a diode in the connector, I still added the one I sourced for all of $0.17 just to be sure it was the right one.)

I ended up finding the 471-1436 off eEuroparts (and it even matched the correct MB OE # 002230521180 ) and actually it was slightly cheaper than the one off EBay. Funny thing was, my email to the ebay seller ended up forcing them to have to close that particular item page lol.

The 471-1594 using the eEuroparts match tool even fails for the 2011 GL 450, the 1436 matches.

I have no clue on the diode, I just can't imagine I have to modify my compressor to add something like that. I'll inspect the original when I remove to see if anything on it has been modified.

Yah read the diode thread. Apparently, the original DENSO have it and not every aftermarket has it. Very simple to add up top. When you get the compressor, you can usually feel the connector cable and if its in there you'll feel the bump. There was an instance of the wrong diode being use in an aftermarket compressor I went ahead and added my own.

Read this thread if you want more about the infamous AC compressor diode https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...ompressor.html

But if I am replacing my compressor WITH a denso, then I should be all good right?

You may still need a diode. My A/C never worked properly after a MB compressor was installed by a dealer until I added the diode. I'm pretty sure people with Densos have had issues as well. IIRC, the replacement compressors come with a diode, but it isn't the proper type. One of the threads discusses it.

hahahaha you have got to be *******g kidding me.

Ordered the 471-1436 from eEuroparts. Guess what happened...same thing as Ebay. Invoice and everything is for 471-1436 , got 471-1594

Is this a joke? Either 1594 is perfectly fine for my vehicle, or I don't know what the hell is happening.
