2009 GL320 Airmatic Blown Fuse

Hi everyone and happy new year! My front left and right air bags are deflated, the rear are raised to the normal level. I have been trying to diagnose the common suspects - bag leak, burned compressor, cracked valve block, fitting leaks. I have tested both FL and FR bags with air from my air bubble and they inflated and held air. I did not hear any leaks while they were holding air and also no indications of leaks after spraying down with soapy water. I don't suspect the compressor is bad as just a few days earlier I had the vehicle in the raised position, but I'm not ruling that out. I turned my attention to the fuse box and found that fuse #108 40a fuse had blown. I installed a new fuse and it blew immediately after starting the vehicle . I took the compressor and the valve block out and inspected them and do not see any visible cracks or leaks, again testing with soapy water. I will try replacing the relay and see where that gets me, if a new relay and fuse does not get the compressor running, does that mean the compressor could be locked up? What would cause that 40a fuse to blow suddenly like that? Any advice on how to bench test the compressor? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Well I tested the relay with a 9v battery and it appears to work. I will test wiring tomorrow to ensure power is getting to the compressor.

Well I tried testing the plug and am not getting anything. I turned the vehicle on and connected positive on my multimeter to the plug and black to the ground on the frame and I got nothing. I have the valve block unplugged, does that need to be plugged in to send power to the compressor? I'm also trying to bench test the compressor and need to know what pin is positive as it says not to reverse the polarity on the compressor. Not being able to get a reading from the plug leaves it a 50/50 still. There is a grey wire and red wire going to the plug for the compressor. Any ideas which is which? I just don't want to damage the compressor if it is good.

The threshold is 16 bar in 40 seconds for testing - and that can be done with an MB type code reader with the compressor still attached.

40 seconds is way way generous btw, a good compressor should hit that in 2-3 seconds.

I have the MBII and didn't see that test in there, will look again. Just got done bench testing it and it's locked up. Made a nice buzz and burn smell. Going to replace front shocks/bags as well as there must have been a leak.

A blown fuse means there is an electrical short circuit somewhere. The only electrical component in the Airmatic system is the compressor motor.

Just closing the thread - replaced the compressor and front air bags with the kit from suncore. ADS struts appeared to be fine with no visible leaks. Also installed replaced the relay for good measure. So far working great.

2008 GL320 CDI
Ok, wondering if my sensors are my reoccuring "Airmatic Malufunction" issues. Have had nothing but trouble with this 2008 CDI. Replaced Arnott pump 3 times. replaced supply block once. replaced RL Airbag, recently had FR airstruct leaking to audible level. Blew compressor before part could come in. Warrantied compressor, replaced struct, relay and pump. Turned it on, it blew fuse. Checked continuity on Positive to pump. Checked continuity through relay to pump. Checked grounds to pump, all good. Sent replacement pump back to be replaced just in case same issues. Pump will not turn on. Did MBII scan, saw really low readings on FR sensor and RL sensor, just replaced FR sensor and no changes. Checked Codes, Saw front sensor, cleared, and resarted 5 times amd pump still doesn't turn on. No errors. Going to replace RR sensor tonight, but am concerned it is something else. Here are my scan details. Also checked battery compartment to see if there is the pontential for any water issues at my Airmatic controller which i understand is under the driver floorboard. Anyone ever had this level of issues or any suggestions???? Previous to latest fast leak on Airstrut. I Have been having the "Malufunction" light come on ever time I raise the suspension. More recently I have also gotten the "PUMP COOLING" warning. Any advice welcome as the closest dealer is 2 hours away!!!
