Troubleshooting Help Wanted(Needed)
Backstory, purchased an 07 gl450 with a bad engine. Purchased a replacement engine and did some preping/maintenance stuff there. Got it put back in enough to where I wanted to try and turn the engine over. New batteries, radiator not installed in car yet. Turn the key, nothing happens in any position. Fuel pump doesn't kick on, starter does not turn or click.
Next, I jumped the pins to confirm the starter functions. It does. Next, I jumped the pins for the fuel pump to confirm it functions. It does.
Next, I pull codes to begin to try and understand next steps.(youcanic scanner, Like it so far.)
Codes:
ME9.7:
P2176- Preeform throttle valve adaptation
P0607- voltage supply of component motor electronics/battery voltage too low for ADC
P2505- The voltage at relay circuit 87 is too low
No CAN signal from control unit traction systems
P2158-implausible CAN signal from vehicle speed at front axle
P0102- open circuit/short circuit to ground or to positive
P0101- MAF sensor is too high
EIS:
Pass, no faults.
Then, based on what I could find on the internet in regard to the above information along with the symptoms I had. I decided to send out my ecu and have it repaired. They deemed it a non economical repair. So I purchased an ECU, EIS, and matching Key set from a 2010 GL450.
Today, with these items swapped over. I was able to recreate all of my symptoms and pull codes again. I know the vin is coded to the ecu and EIS, but figure that if I use a matching set all should be well? Perhaps the model year difference is enough to cause its own problems.
Codes:
ME9.7
No CAN message was received from control unit traction systems
P2158
P2176
P0607
P2505
EIS:
Undervoltage supply
Terminal 30 NOT PRESENT
Okay, with all that said. Anyone have some experience with issues such as those above. Any insight would be great.
Thanks,

Just a guess because they are so random and systems really unrelated to each other.
Either that or an electrical plug is in the wrong connector or not connected?

You’ll be programming VINs and doing off-line coding on a number of control units to make it all talk together.
That’s completely aside from the possibility that one or more of them aren’t plugged in or have bad grounds, as evidenced by some of the codes you’ve pulled up. That is a lot of work for an 07.
Officially 5.5L swapped the 07 GL450, bbspoolside's question on if this was possible and ultimately preforming this swap a few years ago led me to purchase a 5.5L off ebay as they were at the time slightly cheaper and more available.
Big lessons learned on my end: Identical part numbers, turns out the bulk of my issues were from not just using the wire harness from the GL in the first place. I looked over the SL550 wire harness and made a couple minor modifications and tried to save myself what amounts to about an hour of work swapping the harness over while I had it on the bench. Subsequently convinced myself it can't be the harness, there must be some issue with the wiring. Hours. Hours of time spent with wiring diagrams and my multimeter, and scratching my head raw. Finally, I just swapped the harness. Naturally it worked, after getting the fuel rail primed.

I don't know if the link above will work or not, but this links to a thread with some other good information. End of the day, this swap should feel like a plug and play swap if done correctly.

If you’re then reusing the 450 Ecu you would need to go into das developer mode to tell it the base engine is a 5.5 l, I.e switch the base engine from a 4.7l to 5.5 - otherwise I think it might just limit output to 330 hp out of what is capable of 380 hp.

I lol'd because what you wroted really conveyed your level of frustration. Sucks, but glad you sorted it in the end. Well done.
