NEW 2016 GL 450

got this with the rear seat entertainment, hot/cold cup holder, parktronic with active assist, appearance pkg, beige interior, keyless go, p1 pkg. it is a lease. i hate the wheels. I want to change them to 22s. Any recs? also want to paint calipers to amg red, but its a lease, so would they charge me when I hand it over at the end? its only paint and im not changing the calipers themselves. any thoughts and advice would be appreciated for this newbie.

Thx

A gaggle of MB's
Sure .... if it's a lease .. don't do any mods that can't be "reversed" back to stock..

Caliper temps can easily approach 200+ degrees. Whatever you plan on using, keep that in mind.

On the positive side, if you don't use high-temp paint, the red paint should remove itself before the end of the lease.

22" wheels will change the driving characteristics of the vehicle. I'd think twice before I did that on a lease!

Yea the car is for the wife but i really hate the wheels. She likes the soft ride especially with the baby. What if I went with 21s instead? How much of a difference would that make compared to the ones I have currently? I would not put low profiles on them.

I love my 2016 gl350
Check with a dealer, I was told to never do that.
The cars gears are correlated with the wheels.

Here's an idea, get aftermarket 20" wheels that you like, swap the OEM tires to them, and put a set of Blizak snow tires on the OEM wheels.

You'll drive 9 months a year with wheels you like and at end of lease, swap tires and sell your aftermarket set as a winter set to another buyer.

Of course, assuming you live in a snow state, cause if you do, the OEM Pirelli 20" tires are horrid in as much as a dusting of snow.

The underlaying issue is the outside diameter of the wheel/tire combination for proper speed and odometer measurements as well as clearance. In reference to the gear issue, there is a potentially a big problem on all-wheel-drive vehicles if different sizes are used on the front and rear axels if the vehicle is not designed for it.

Notice that MB uses different tires with each OEM diameter wheel to keep the total size approximately constant.

I'm not sure offhand if this is possible with a 22" rim on a GL.

Yea im in TX. No snow here. I probably wouldnt get the staggered look. I also want to get quality wheels. Something that wont get messed up easily.

20" or 21" would work fine for the truck. You can play with the tire size and wheel offset also to get the look you want.

If you care about the wheel resale value after the lease, I wouldn't go larger than that.
