Short version, the X166 GL350 will receive a new NOx sensor, DPF, DOC, ECU software update, and an extended warranty,
There is more discussion in the diesel sub-forum including a summary of the extended warranty here.
Once owners complete the emissions modifications at an authorized service center then the owner can file a claim for the cash settlement in the class action.

Does anyone know if the "extended emissions warranty" includes the EGR? Mine has an EGR code now and loss of power, debating popping it out and cleaning it vs sending it to them to do.
Ugh. I just had my timing chain replaced at an independent shop - now covered under warranty. Glad I didn't get the EGR done - looks like it is covered under warranty.

Could not find the language where it covers the timing chain. I do see where someone else cut and pasted but I could not find that document.

Looks like a list of common repairs on the OM642. Great news for the 2009 and later diesels. Wonder what happens if you already paid for those repairs? I'm guessing you have to eat it and try to recoup whatever you can based on the settlement amount?

My emission control system was completed . They had the car for two days, several of the parts had to be ordered.
All sensors, catalytic converter, remanufactured muffler system, software update. There was no thermostat change.
All appears fine.

I have a 2016 Sprinter 4x4 camper. I just spoke with my service writer at MB Gainesville, FL. I had him look up the technical repair for the AEM for this vehicle, and I am probably not going to proceed, at least not yet. There is replacement of the upstream and downstream knock sensors, and a complete reprogramming of all four ECMs. Takes about three hours and they have the parts. Problem is it apparently will result in a possible major reduction of horsepower, fuel mileage, and an increase in DEF consumption. If this is the case, a cash settlement will be far less than the long-term cost of operating the vehicle, especially if diesel prices increase like we anticipate as the public starts traveling again. I know this is not the environmental thing to do, but neither is burning up a lot more diesel. Sure would be good to have someone who has this done comment on these issues.

I said "possible" based on the fact that the settlement paperwork allows additional compensation of categories "3 mph reduction" and "6 mph reduction". What else is one to conclude? Also the service tech agreed, but couldn't be more specific. A 3 mph reduction on a vehicle that gets maybe 15 on the highway is a major reduction, wouldn't you say?
I think the prudent thing to do is hold off until we have more and better information.

That is great news. I would certainly hope that will be the situation with the vans, but prefer to wait for more experienced based information.

Just completed a 500 mile trip and have not noticed any change in acceleration, drivability, or any other issues.
So far, all is fine. No complaints here.

Ditto. I had ours done last week and if anything, drivability and NVH are improved, especially when the engine is cold. I'm interested to get a few tanks of fuel into it to see if there's any noticeable mileage change.

Thanks a lot for sharing...I got the emission parts update, did not get any extended warranty from the dealer though....also I complaint about the timing chain rattling but the dealer said they did not notice it...off course it’s summer how can it rattle cos it only happens in cold weather...where can I file for timing chain replacement claim? Should I just call the Mercedes customer support number on the link in the first post?
