GL63 Ordering Information

i dont understand what 'you are eligible' means- i mean thats mb financial or the bank to decide-
its an amazing car- but i was already frustated with this timeline issue- and as i mentioned before my dealer's a straight forward guy and doesnt beat around the bush - he is well familiar with this time lag and told me quite a while back- 'the best deal i can get u on a gl63 is to get one' and i knew exactly what he meant and we finalized the 550 order almost immediately after that, cpl months ago- so yea - keep the 550, its def the nect best thing- looks identical, almost just as fast, yes it doesnt have the amg add ons; but does the job for me- waiting that long and not even knowing if we can get one makes me think, wait till the summer, when the overseas orders are addressed we'll get the rest and hey by then MY14 will have added perks and will be worth the wait-

Maybe the dealer is trying to say - you are lucky to even get this car - don't even think about asking for a discount.

My local (northeast) PC told me: "your order has been looked at and approved by Mercedes-Benz Corporate. Although the build date was not scheduled yet, you are eligible to own one of the special cars!"
The sales rep said that I should not have an issue getting delivery by April (when our 09' GL550 lease ends). However, after reading this thread, I'm curious if that is the case.
Thoughts?

I'm curious if you had any update from your dealer? I hope you are on schedule for April but that dealer comment sure does sound fishy . . .

I can tell you what that dealer's comment was - all bullsh*t.
Hammer it out on this thread for another 200 posts... after the original 32, maybe mid-neek week the final added number for US 2013 thru June will come up ... my guess about another 24...

I hear you about the fact that all the posts in the world won't change what you forecast accurately early on - there will be very (unreeasonably) limited availability of the 2013MY GL63 in the US.
I'm still not sure I want to "win" a spot on that last 2013 allocation for a June build. But I guess I will worry about that if I even have an option to decide . . .
Sadly, false dealer comments like those received by JWBond tend to paint all dealers with a bad brush - even if not deserved for all.

In my experience most dealers (>90%) will give you false information. I don't know why they do it except to waste everyone's time as they can't deliver the car without an allocation. Like park place told me they had 5 allocations for the GL63. In reality they have 1 and that's not even the 1st batch - theirs is scheduled for 5/1 build. It's disturbing how the sales people @MB treat customers buying a car worth more than $125k

Load up a GL550 and enjoy your savings... B&O I am not particularly sold on, with losing the spare...

I'm a bit biased as an AMG obsessive, but there's no way you're going to get a GL550 to feel like a GL63 AMG (and I'm not even simply talking about the power difference, since that's a given and would be unfair to compare).

i tend to agree with Fab on loading up a gl550 and dropping b&o
i do agree with the difference between amg and non amg, however in an SUV of this size, its not a massive difference, if one must experience amg stick with one thats closer to the road and truly enjoy amg performance, i'm sure the gl63 has that feel too, but nothing like doing it in a smaller amg- my 0.02..
whatever you get- just enjoy it, we only live once

Sam, at this pace (increasing allocations by two), we will see out Gl63s sometime in 2015 . . . I still think those "launch" numbers are a joke for a non black series AMG for the US. But I agree with Greenltrn that we should see better availability in MY2014.
