No trailer hitch with advanced parking pkg in the US?

Hi all,

My first post and potentially my first MB vehicle.

I'd really like the advanced parking package, not so much for the auto parking but for the sensors and the surround view camera. However, I would like the trailer hitch as well. I notice you can't configure the vehicle with both.

Any idea if I could order the advanced parking package and add a hitch later? Salesperson couldn't find an answer for me . . .

I noticed this as well. Not only in the configurator but in the DOG from July.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the parking sensors, but I can't imagine why they have to be mutually exclusive. I was under the impression that other brands offer a way to disable the rear sensors when using a hitch.

I'm curious about this myself. We probably won't have an answer to this until the GLC arrives at dealerships in November and people can take a closer look.

Me too. Doing a bit of lurking and research re the GLC.

I'm also concerned that with hitch I would loose tech stuff.
Too early for me to visit a dealer so I thought I'd ask here....
What is the likelihood of being able to get all the Tech stuff and vehicle prewired for hitch?

Has there been a similar situation in past MY's? How did folks that wanted a hitch handle that?

I don't mind getting an aftermarket hitch but would prefer factory wiring since usually it also means additional cooling, etc.

Just spoke with my salesperson - he confirmed this is the case as he was unable to configure a vehicle for order with the advanced parking package and a trailer hitch.

His dealership has a GLC on the lot today for training and he was going to ask the trainer to see if they have any insight....Both of us were wondering if an aftermarket hitch would inhibit the tech functionality in any way by blocking a sensor.

From the GLC configurator on the MB USA website:

With the optional trailer hitch, the GLC can tow up to X,XXX lbs. The hitch option includes the wiring harnesses for the trailer lights and brakes, while every GLC is already equipped to handle the rigors of towing on the engine, cooling system and transmission. Standard Trailer Stablity Assist helps keep trailer sway under control.

Thanks Frosty.
At least that leaves the door open for aftermarket hitch if factory hitch and 360 cam package stay mutually exclusive.

Had an email from invisihitch and they expect to have one March '16

In trying to add to my research....
What exactly is lost with the "advanced parking pkg" ?

Is it only the fancy parking assist or would one loose the 360 degree camera?

Does Mercedes pre-wire all vehicles for hitch or is it only wired for trailer when you order factory hitch?

Perhaps no answer until the GLC starts to surface but thought I'd ask anyways

If I am seeing/reading thing correct -surround view is part of advanced parking assist package which is most needed when there is trailer hitch but cannot be ordered together. What kinda mad genius in mb came up with this !!!!

With the trailer hitch you also loose the door opening foot detection sensor under the rear bumper.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
One time only I saw an 06 ML at a picknpull.
Damn, I didn't see it in time, but it came with the stock hitch and SAM but they were gone by the time
I got there along with almost anything else. Amazingly the interior was still pretty intact.
Aftermarket light box attached to standard SAM, we get constant errors with lamps.
Arrgh. Woulda loved to snag that SAM with the trailer light connections.
