Gas Pump Shuts Off

Gas Pump Shuts Off
Set up an appointment with d dealer in a few days but any other GLC owners with this problem? From d first time I pumped gas, d pump always shuts off as if it's full. I have to hold the trigger halfway or less than halfway for d whole time - feels like an eternity - I'm putting gas in my tank. Never had this problem with other cars although I've only pumped gas at my local Sam's Club with this 31 day old GLC.

Did you try twisting the pump handle a bit to give it a different angle? I feel like this is Apple's antennagate and the ensuing "you're holding it wrong"

Had this problem with a car a long time ago. Something was partially blocking the neck and the full force of the gas was triggering the pump to shut off. Reducing the flow allowed the tank to fill. Unfortunately it's a trip to the dealer but should be an easy fix if that's it.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I have had this problem with my c class at certain stations where nozzle as cover on it to prevent splash/ collect fumes. It is all about the position of the nozzle. I bet my GLC will probably do this. My other cars are diesels no issues

So I went back to my dealer yesterday and was told they often get these complaints with different Mercedes cars coz not all US gas pumps are made for European cars. They said 76 gas stations and their nearby Shell have longer pumps as opposed to other pumps that are shorter or with springs. I said I've seen at least one GL that had no problems at the same Sam's Club near my home and I'm sure I can ask a neighbor/friend who owns a CLA if they have problems with the same station. I did try a Chevron, too, and had the same problem. They did try to pump gas at their nearby Shell (and I did too after I left the dealership) and there were no problems. I suspect my problem is worse than others but unless I can find another GLC owner and prove to them that there's a problem with my car (so far, I've only seen one other GLC on the road here in L.A.), I will need to look for other stations so my hand does not hurt every time I pump gas

I was thinking about this the other day...I've had issues with pumps before (not with a MB) where it shut off a lot and all I had to do is back out the nozzle slightly and then it worked fine. This still allows the nozzle to rest in the hole without anyone having to hold it while pumping (assuming it has a trigger lock, which many seem to be lacking these days).

Same problem
We have a GLC 300 and are having the EXACT same issue. We traded in a 2012 GLK 350, had had zero problems with that car, and we always go to the same gas station. Is a call to the dealer a waste of time?

U can try n u have a better case since u had a GLK with no problems. They were nice to me but basically told me that's a known problem coz people come to them all the time for that. I am hoping my cousin gets a GLC as she planned to n I can compare n show them that like I suspect, my prob is worse than most. It's been costing me money coz I can't go to Costco or Sam's Club to pump cheaper gas.

GLC Gas Pump Issues
Hello,
Have you found a solution to this issue? I just picked up at GLC 43 and I too am having the issues. I can't pump gas anywhere other than 76, where the nozzle is super long. All the pumps with springs do not work for me. Very annoying. And it seems most gas stations have the shorter, spring-loaded pumps...

I live in Arizona and drive to California once a month, and more often than not have issues with the pumps in CA. The CA pumps have a compressable tube rubber splash guard while AZ has a simple circular splash shield, so that seems to affect how far you can insert the nozzle.
Same problem exists with my wife's GLK350. Pump shuts off in CA and works perfectly in AZ.
Pretty annoying since I have no solutions except to pump slower.
