Hi from Land Down Under - Australia

I have found an installer in Melbourne who can supply and fit and not compromise Command system or functions.
I’m thinking having maps etc cheaper in long run than paying yearly fee for updates that are already ‘old’.
Also found company (China) who sells full featured TPMS for early GLC that integrates with Command system and you can see real time tyre pressure and temps.
Has anyone bothered to fit this as well ?
Thanks

GLC, RHD 2020. DATA.

Some options i have found, one in UK and another three in Melb.
1. https://integratedautomotive.co.uk/p...o-upgrade-kit/. – no idea if they have a rep in Oz.
2. http://www.autofidelity.com.au/. About $1600 unit and fitting complete ready to use.
3. Third one in Clayton from memory, listed by others in earlier posts here. Found it – NaviPlus.

any other info appreciated, with costs or concerns.

Several had recent services as well as needing more tyres, no one at the dealerships told them about the ‘fix’.
They are now returning to challenge staff for the knuckle fix.
Sad that there appears to be no ethical approach.
Surely there needs to be a review of ‘recall’ or self disclosure rules for auto owners, supporting only those owners who are savvy enough to have the time and technical drive to seek a solution, as opposed accepting the ‘characteristic’ story is frankly quite shameful.
Pay forward and let other owners you see know of their options, before the knuckle free fix is withdrawn.

I have not compared settings yet to confirm if there is an actual difference between air suspension and steel suspension.
Hope this helps, data is March 2020, RHD market, with knuckle replacement fitted.

Other German sellers have not announced anything, yet- new vehicle sales here worst since GFC, hopefully this will help lift new car sales for MB.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Any additional info how it works, wifi, Bluetooth, ?
Thanks

Data seems to indicate.
- 1080p
- audio
- supercapacitor
- GPS
- WiFi module
- Smartphone app control
App called Mercedes-Benz Dashcam.
This seems to control most functions including downloads.
No idea if software has ability to hover over areas and magnify like Thinkware or Blackvue.
Site in Germany, Mercteil, has them listed with FedEx delivery.
https://mercteil.com/products/40?mai...it=12&offset=0
Aust price front camera only is RRP $831, can get it for $756 from MB Dealer with discount.
German site price is Euro 362, incl delivery that approx converts to AU $608, so about $150 cheaper from them, unknown is customs or final currency conversion depending on PayPal or bank data.

Cameras now in Oz data base, no stock in Oz or Singapore hub comes from Germany, allow about 4 weeks delivery to Dealer.
Cheers

This is for UK and some results reflect their annual MoT inspections, so maybe some owner bias removed.
Some models not in Oz, VW does poorly in some areas as too Land Rover.
Skoda and Lexus doing quite well across models.
https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/honest-...0-the-results/
Hope you enjoyed various reports, given UK is RHD and some models make their way to Oz and results I Think are a better reflection of data as opposed USA J. D. Power reports - which are well respected as well..

I found a data sheet for an E-Class for comprehensive service schedules - about 4 pages.
Looking for similar tabular matrix for Km (miles) and action items to be covered.
Realise some markets do not have diesel, but happy for petrol data, I assume similar requirements.
Most interested in caring for Auto Transmission over life of Veh, Is it a sealed unit or can it be opened and oil fluid and filter(s) replaced ? When should this occur ?
I have read of certain Volvo’s SUV have sealed for life auto transmission, but ‘life’ is around 160,000km, with a number of owners having issues around 125,000km - they have found Indy mechanics who can open up, replace fluids and filters and Auto fixed.
No idea if GLC is ‘sealed for life’ ?
This is a copy of the E Class data sheet, ..... File Type: pdf
14 E maint.pdf (165.3 KB, 26 views)
Hopefully there is a GLC equivalent.
Thanks

Just purchased Dash Cam – Thinkware U1000 4K front camera, 2K rear camera with Radar parking sensor too.
Will probably have it installed by local firm to save sleepless night thinking about which terminals to use in fuse box !!
Gave up buying the MB dash cam as no details easily avail and no specs as to camera or processor.
Will update here in a week or two after items arrive and booking made for install.

https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/big-changes-for-mercedes-benz-retailing-in-2022-124853
Dealers will only deliver, offer test drives and attend to pre delivery and servicing - no price negotiations........
Does USA or UK have same retail model ??

Concerns ‘DieselGate” in UK recall and if Australian owners of diesels might be affected ?Has anyone heard about this 'dieselgate' software upgrade in the UK : https://www.glcforums.com/threads/di...on-claim.7478/
Any idea whether or not Australian diesel GLCs are similarly affected?
Any info greatly appreciated.

Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler has been hit with an €870 million (roughly $960 million) fine as part of a settlement with German prosecutors over the automaker’s own diesel cheating scandal. The fine comes in at the lower end of what was expected earlier this year.
The news comes just about four years to the day after Volkswagen’s Dieselgate scandal was exposed by the Environmental Protection Agency and California’s Air Resources Board. Volkswagen’s massive emissions cheating scandal, which affected 11 million cars worldwide, kicked off several investigations and lawsuits that helped uncover similar efforts at automakers like Daimler to skirt regulations on diesel vehicles.
Germany’s motor authority found that some 280,000 Mercedes-Benz C-class and E-class vehicles had been outfitted with software that made them look cleaner than they were during testing, similar to the grift that Volkswagen had pulled (though on a smaller scale). That led to a wider recall of some 700,000 affected vehicles around the world last year. Daimler also had to recall 60,000 GLK SUVs for the same issue earlier this year. The extent of Daimler’s cheating is still unknown, as an investigation by the US Department of Justice and a class action lawsuit in New Jersey are still ongoing.

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/i...defeat-devices
In the UK, Mercedes faces increasing pressure to recall the affected cars: “We are aware of the issue of ‘defeat devices’ in some Mercedes models and we are in communication with Mercedes-Benz UK about the matter. Mercedes have not yet notified us of an official recall so we are pressing them on this point and have given them until 22 June to respond,” said Ian Bartlett, head of DVSA’s vehicle safety branch and market surveillance unit.
Daimler is the parent company of Mercedes.
Among the models said to be affected are the 1.6-litre Vito 111 CDI and the 2.0-litre C220d and GLC 220d.
The KBA has not indicated the age of the cars involved, although officials suggest they include latest-generation models with Euro 6 emissions certification.
News of the recall comes after the German transport minister, Andreas Scheuer, met with Mercedes chairman Dieter Zetsche in Berlin to discuss what has been described as “irregularities in independent test results of various Mercedes-Benz models featuring the German car maker’s turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine”.
Among the features brought into question by the KBA is software used to regulate the amount of Ad Blue solution injected into the SCR filter on the models in question.
Following the discussion, Scheuer said Daimler had pledged to remove the suspect software and co-operate with authorities.
Autocar understands that the software is programmed to lower the amount of Ad Blue being injected after a prescribed time. This lowers the efficiency of the SCR filter and leads to much higher nitrogen oxide emissions in real-world driving conditions than those claimed by Mercedes under test conditions.
A report in German newspaper Bild am Sonntag suggests the German Transport Ministry has identified up to five illegal Ad Blue and/or SCR switch off functions in various Mercedes-Benz diesel models.

Good explanation of ‘defeat’ device that may have been implemented.
In its annual report on Friday, Daimler announced that the KBA was about to declare that its cars were “equipped with impermissible defeat devices”.
“Defeat device” is a term used to cover any technology designed to cheat regulatory emissions limits.
It warned that its diesel models were under increasing scrutiny in Germany after the luxury brand was lambasted by the KBA for its thermal switches, which turned off emission controls when the ambient temperature was too low or too high.
The system relied on a legislation loophole that allowed for measures to protect the longevity of the emissions-cleaning technology, switching off below between six and eight degrees and above 26 degrees.
I wonder how Australia classified “hot climate” in build status impacts thermal switching ?

” This is related to the Comand online features no longer working, not sure if this is the same for our GLC with Comand. Some guy pay $2,500 for the Comand online features, after 2yrs it's no longer working, and Mercedes customer cares treat their customer like idiot, by using their delay tactics of ignoring them long enough and give them every excuses they can, until they go away. Which is how I feel about Mercedes.
https://autoexpert.com.au/posts/the-...p-in-australia “
I must admit, MB AU have been less proactive in passing on info or assistance compared to what I have seen from MB UK and MB USA.
Such a shame local management lets down a valued Badge with a Corporate attitude which alienated customers, and in the long term lost customers who take their loyalty to other Manuf’s.
we love the turbo engine. Folks in TX drive super fast and will tail you until you move out of the way. Super aggressive. It’s nice to have a fast car to outpace the Camaros and Mustangs.
we’ve been to Australia and noticed people obey the speed limit and lots of speed radars and police presence. In TX many drivers think that the speed limit sign is only a “suggestion” not actual law. Anyhow, enjoy your ride

New Teck looks great.

This may be a good option for a variety of cars, incl the GLC, 250, 43 and 63 series.
Australian designed.

No details re price yet.
Car was left with specialist for 4 days to allow clean, paint correction, treatment and seal. Involved heating or baking under UV lamps I think.
The result is amazing, I am soooo happy with the professionalism, quality of work.
GLC looks better than when delivered, even after 13k . I do try and look after our cars, but this was better than expected.
Not sure how to post photos here, drop box ?
Price so much better than dealership, but it was not really about price, it was about knowing who was doing the work, how it was done and after sales service, advice and product sale of any supplemental product.
It also meant that I could re visit for advice and any fix.
Treated with Concours Nova EVO and Si.
Here is the link to my new paint treatment.

Very happy with workmanship and overall service, top marks to David at "Auto Alchemy" at Airport West.
