Hi from Land Down Under - Australia

I have since purchased a new front and rear set to suit.

May explain why Daimler dropped a lot of diesel variants, incl GLC diesel in US market. Cars that will be recalled range from 2009 to 2016, with Daimler required to fix, and then test each car for next 5 years.
No questions seem to have been asked by Aust Regulators re our standards and if any models were caught up with defeat software.
Report seems to have not made it to the desks of Aust motoring writers either ?
I wonder why MB-AU stopped importing diesel GLC variants, when they are still sold in UK ?

Has any other owner with Pana roof noticed this degradation along the edge ?
Out of warranty, but I will raise this with the Dealer on next service.
Would be nice to get feedback from other owners, especially those of 2016 vintage.
Thanks
QUOTE=Teckno;8227471]We have an early 250 with Pana sun roof. Noticed that the glass ? Or plastic panel between the front of the Pana opening and the windscreen is corroding or discolouring under the top layer in the direction of the windscreen.

Bit happier not mould, but I don’t have sunscreen for it, LOL

Not using Cloud, set up using wifi, so gar so good, very happy with options and quality. Did place car on slow battery charge, to top up camera battery to ensure fully charged.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Brake wear light just activated too, Looks like I’m getting around 40,000 before brake pads replacement, most likely fronts, but I am prepared to replace discs and pads. Rear discs will have done 80,000km – fronts were changed at 40,000 so be interesting to see what wear is on them too.

No remains of red dust that came down with an overnight rain shower. Car cleaned afterwards, but never thought about sunroof track, drain. The red dust is sticky and needs wiping away, very fine, not rough.

I will now pursue Dealer support to MBAu.

Side panels on doors still perfect.

So my guess about $2000 for transmission service and software ??

Big issue is this covers Auto transmission fluid and filter and transfer case and fluids.
Best quote I received whilst car in workshop was $1400 to $1900, $2200 from country ( about 70km out of Melb) and city dealers for Auto and transfer case.
Interesting labour costs, city charge $455 to replace rear disc & pads as compared to $225 for same job in Regional.
A day trip to Regional, free loan car and a relaxing shopping, tourist or lunch would be covered by savings ??????
It does pay to shop around and get estimates prior to landing at the front of house desk and being presented with service shock.

Last year AdBlu was added at service and the on screen data showed tank filled, but only 11,000km range. Dealer could not explain.
On next service AdBlu added again, again tank range reduced from original 27,000 km to just 11,000km.
BUT this time a supplement to owners book was left on the front seat.
Guess what !!
Page 7 English states = it may be necessary to refill AdBlu tank between services. Ave AdBlu consumption is between 1% and 5% of fuel consumption – highly dependant on driving style and operating conditions.
My guess is this is no accident but a software change inserted into the ECU to meet diesel issues in Europe and to avoid litigation.
MB were heavily fined in USA and Europe over rubbery diesel settings I understand – to drop in range from 27,000km to 11,000km is massive and is clear indication of a change to settings, not publicly advertised to owners and I doubt to Federal authorities. This was not done as a recall, but during routine service to owners vehicles, just slipped in with no ‘formal’ advice to explain ‘WHY’ the change.
At least in the UK I believe owners were supplied with a letter.

Engine oil filter $50.38.
Combination filter $56.54
Oil Sump for transmission service $557.98
Overflow pipe $38.82
MB 236.17. ATF 5. $211.74
MB diesel oil 229.51 PC (6 litre) $172.20
Transfer case oil. (0.7 litre). $68.60
Labour costs for scheduled service and transmission around $850 to $1000 additional to above parts and fluids costs.
Dealer did an invoice price adjust of around $200 off above costs as good customer.
Hope above helps sort out costs – it appears the 9 speed GLC box is a lot dearer to service than the two earlier 7 speed box variants.
Dealer at 80,000km (125,000km basis) did offer to delay gearbox till next service which would be 6th year and around 100,000km, given no towing stress and reasonable driving.

mainly just say hi, as there are a lot great info here and I cannot catch up them all.
One question though, you need to replace the oil sump for the transmission? for $557.98, as it seems just transmission oil replace?

Yes it seems maint costs are much higher in Oz. Our service is 12 months or 25,000km , seems other countries have much different requirements for the same car....

Tested and seems to work perfectly - even the shaped indent socket under chassis and on jack itself.
Hope this helps with more options.
