So far I've only found after market for guards. Those adhesive backed long horizontal strip that run along the side body panels. The best ones I've seen are made for a Ford. White with a chrome strip down the middle.

I want to find a really exceptional looking solution.

No, if anyone dings my ride they are not going to like me.

I personally wouldn't want to stick anything on there but I'm weird about doing things are aren't easily undone.

+2 I'll call the paintless dent repair guy after the ding. They work pretty reasonably these days.

I don't know about that. I think it could be nice and worth the protection. This is a Photoshop example of what I am looking for.

I don't believe it looks terrible, but I think most dings are going to occur much higher on the vehicle. On my current BMW I've had one ding in three years. It cost me around 100 bucks to have it taken care of. My Mustang, three and half years old has been unscathed so far....... Knock on Wood!!!

I'm not crazy careful about where I park, but I do tend to avoid parking next to trucks, coupes (they usually have very large doors,) and next to cars that look like they're not taken care of. If someone doesn't take care of their own car, they're not going to be concerned about yours.

It really is hard to keep a car nice anymore. People have little respect for others' things. I was sitting in a restaurant eating lunch and watch an ancient lady back into my X6 and then stop, give a surprised look back and then take off. There's was nothing I could do...I was in the middle of a meal (couldn't skip out on the check) and by the time I would've gotten to my car she'd have been long gone. It was in KY no less which is a no fault state so it didn't matter much anyway. Cost me $1700.

I try to be careful where I park, but i have a good Paintless dent guy who will come to my office. The MB dealer I use has painless Paintless dent service that costs the same as the guy who comes to the office.
