Good tip.
The dealer used the vin to determine if my vehicle was supposed to have acoustic glass.
In certain countries its standard, others its optional and am guessing other countries it's not even available.

Using VIN decoder...
No code 851 listed, glass not marked acoustic.
I do not see the line in the glass others have posted but the front glass seems thicker than the rear doors. Car seems quiet. No sunroof, few options.

My situation was my GLC had one window marked acoustic and the other not. The dealer had not seen this issue but confirmed my complaint and couple days later called me to say they were going to replace the non acoustic glass. I asked how they determined the vehicle was supposed to have acoustic glass. The response was by the vin.

I checked my VIN it had acoustic glass. My car has every thing on it including premium and interior package as well as driver assist and park assist

Was referring to US market, as its not a stand alone option, there has to be another option which gives you the glass (like premium package), just like the silver trim around the instrument cluster, which I believe comes down to code P22.

I don't think there is rhyme or reason for Mercedes using the acoustic glass. My car was pretty well loaded and didn't come with it yet, the other cars on the lot which had no big features all had it. Seems like they used whatever was lying around.

I think it's a supply/demand problem. I believe all GLCs were intended to have acoustic glass, but glass supply issues nixed that. It appears that earlier orders like mine came with acoustic while later ones were hit and miss as supplies failed to keep up with demand.

It happens. Some years ago when I ordered a C-Class with xenons, my car delivery was delayed 4-5 weeks because the xenons (made in Austria) were on back order.

A job well done. The window operates flawlessly. And I cannot tell that anything on the vehicle was disturbed.
Haven't had the opportunity to drive at speed on the freeway so don't know if there is a discernible reduction in road noise. Will post when I know.
Zero $...accomplished under warranty.

I've confirmed the belief that ALL GLC's in the US should have had the acoustic glass but because of supplier issues they are installing whatever is on hand.
2 identical GLC's one with one without.
1 GLC base no options with, 1 GLC with 58k MSRP without.
Have noticed no wind noise issues without the acoustic glass.

No Acoustic glass on my car!
Did 200 miles today on the motorway averaging 70 mph and no road noise issue with the car at all. Was able to hear the radio clearly without the need to turn it up high.

Tend to agree, however, just my gut feel.
That said, if I had a GLC without acoustic glass, would be asking my dealer to find out what the hell is going on. And whatever the answer is I'd want to see something official.
With vehicles delivered with/with out acoustic glass, one window with acoustic glass, the opposite side without. The situation is mucked up.
M-B owes it's GLC owners an explanation!

Earlier this week the dealer installed acoustic glass on the drivers side window.
A job well done. The window operates flawlessly. And I cannot tell that anything on the vehicle was disturbed.

Is it road noise or wind noise? Seems like most have been saying wind noise was the problem. I don't hear wind noise per se but I do hear road noise though it doesn't seem excessive.

Now, I wish someone would do the identical test with a vehicle that doesn't have acoustic glass in order to ascertain, is acoustic glass is worth all the fuss here a couple of months ago.

I have thoughts about mentioning the acoustic glass when I bring it in for its first service but like I said, I feel like it's pretty quiet now though sometimes you don't know what your missing until you experience how it should be.

So I did an unofficial experiment. I downloaded an iPhone db meter and measured it along my way to work.
I don't have acoustic glass and the for the same speeds the db was higher. Maybe 5-10db.
But it was not he same app nor the same phone model. Also it looks like they are driving on asphalt whereas my highway is concrete.
I do hear noticable wind noise near the top of my driverside window starting around 76. mph
