Right, everyone has to approach it in their own way. Having owned a number of MB products since 1973 and being a hands-on mechanical engineer, I do most of my own maintenance. My reaction to your points are:
- probably not, but these updates are typically only applied if you have a complaint, which under warrantee you would take to the dealer
-all that is needed is a copy of your receipt for the work
-US law requires car sold here to have a common on board diagnostic system. You could get codes read at Autozone for free.
-see my first comment
-all you have to do is tell the indie shop to use MB parts

Good points, thanks!

1. I was under the impression software updates (bug fixes, etc. including NAV?) are done as general service during maintenance to make sure the vehicle has current software version. As an MB owner, though, you have more experience than I. I'm not sure how often software is updated on these cars.
2. Did not know about the common on-board diagnostic re: US regs--I thought the interface/jack was common, but that is great to know.
3. Agreed about only needing receipts, but it's a layer of bother for some people and can sometimes be disputed if the dealer wants to give a hard time about if all "service" was done (as opposed to purchase of parts only).

I've changed the oil on all of my vehicles since 1982, but I'll probably go the dealer route for the first four services on our GLC. After that, I'll find a good indie mechanic in our area for anything other than changing oil. I don't do brakes, tranny fluid, etc.

So far browsing from forum and this thread ... for GLC300 4 Matic 17 model

1) The MB Extended Warranty 7/75 seems to be $1700 as very quote. Anybody got lower than $1700 for 7/75 ? could you please share.

2) Not that much information about 7/100 for Extended Warranty. Would $2000-$2100 be very good quote ? or anything less than ? Please share

Go back and read the thread. There is a good deal from a salesman at MB Austin. I use that figure when calling a local dealer and they beat/matched that price. It may help.

Thanks. Do you think you can quickly post that number .. whether it's 7/75 or 7/100. It's helpful rather than going back to read again (which I did in the first place and hence put $1700 for 7/75 as my observed summary point as of now)

I've read this whole thread and I'm not seeing a lot of commentary about the cost of prepaid maintenance (pp) and the extended warranty (ew) with regards to the GLC43 in the US. So far, I've seen these figures:

Speedeye: $1475 for 4/40 pp
Aorbeta: $1475 for 4/40 pp
Aorbeta: $3750 for 7/65 ew

Has anyone with a GLC43 negotiated lower rates for prepaid maintenance and the extended warranty? So far it seems like GLC43 owners are paying MSRP for those things.

For GLC 43 (in the US, quote from Brett from Austin TX)
4/40 PP: $1,475 USD
7/100k EW: $2,950 USD

I heard that there is a possibility for 4/40pp at $1,275 USD for GLC43, but still waiting to confirm with a different source (will keep all posted once I find out). I did get the 7/100k though, rather than 7/75k (quoted $1,950 USD) for GLC43, since I do tend to put lots of miles on my car. The GLC43 is roughly about a couple hundred US dollars more compare to just GLC 300.

Hope this helps others out there, I also would like to Thank all who contributed to this forum with the great amount of information, which helped me with my purchase.

Question on the PPM .... Can you only purchase the B-A-B PPM (3 year) after you do your first A on your own? It appears (which is why I'm asking the question) that you can't buy the 3 year now and it start when you first take it in for its first service (2nd year B)
Hopefully that question makes sense the way I've written it ��

I was quoted $1250 for B-A-B PPM, and the 4 pack for 1275. Didn't make any sense to buy the 3 so I went for 4 pack.

MBUSA has "Premier Prepaid Maintenance" and "Star Premier Prepaid Maintenance". I was told that if you purchase the 3-pack after buying the first A service out of pocket, you must pay the increased pricing reflected in the Star Premier PPM.

There has been some confusion regarding this in previous posts, and apparently has not been everyone's experience, but that's what I was told by a finance manager I trust.

That what I was told also. The higher price being that you would move into premier prepaid maint as you did it n your own for the first A service. This also ties in with TheSpooky statement too where the 3 year price (prob on the star maint package) is around the same as the 4 year package.
The way I was reading earlier posts of the 3 year package (BAB). Was that you could start that in the 2nd year..but it looks as if I was reading that wrong?

There has been advice here to pay for the first A service out of pocket and then purchase the next three--and that it did not matter whether they are A or B services. But I find it hard to believe that such a loophole exists, unless service departments are letting it slip by. And my finance guy says that is "against the rules", so to speak.

Here is my take:
A: "Premier Prepaid Maintenance" plan applies to a new vehicle starting with the first service, where as "Star Premier Prepaid Maintenance" is for any vehicle that have had at least one service done. Qualitatively there is no difference in the coverage between the two plans. Both cover only recommended maintenance items. However, these items may be more or less depending on which A or B service (See B)
B: "Star Premier Prepaid Maintenance" pricing considers the possibility that it will be used for 5-6-7 (B-A-B) service once the owner is done using the "Premier Prepaid Maintenance". On my GLC, I have Air Filter, Spark Plugs, AT fluid, and Diff fluid change in service #5,6,7, in addition to routine oil and cabin filter change. That is what makes it more expensive than the 3 services "Premier Prepaid Maintenance" starting with the first service.
C:While as a consumer we all like to make the best of our money...the other side is worst in squeezing the money out of us. So they are not going to give you something for free...at least MB. You probably have heard of 4$ charge to top off windshield washer fluid and $25 for Tire Rotation ( done free at almost all oil change places).

I agree with you. I have asked two dealerships on purchasing the maintenance after we had our first A for the B, A, B services and one said it can't be done and the other quoted a high price that it was not even worth it.

If someone has done this and got a good price, please post how it was done, as so far at least in my area, it can not be done.

Does any one know for sure the time limit that a service covered by PPM must be performed within. For example, if a service is due Jan First, can it be performed on Feb First or Mar First without loosing the PPM credit?

PPM - interval is based on time or mileage - whichever comes 1st.

Time Period - no more than 14 months from last service - you can check with your dealer.

Mileage - no more than 12,500 from last service - you can check with dealer.

PPM money - by and large goes upstream to Mercedes - small dealer margin.

Most Service Dept's will give you inaccurate information on PPM - since by and large Service Departments gross more dollars by selling individual service departments.

"Most" of the info posted here - came from inaccurate information given to board members by Service Departments - and/or inaccurate info given to board members by Finance people during add-on discussions at time of sale.

Is there a free warranty check up for new car? SA didn't mention anything when picked up GLC 4matic SUV last week. But been reading around forums there is some kind of a free new car warranty checkup with tire rotation before 5000 miles. Looked in service manual can't find anything. Anybody know anything?
