AMG GLC43

New to the forum and new to the Mercedes World. I own and drive an Audi TTRS but we picked up the AMG for the wife this weekend. Just wanted to say hello.

Very nice. Looks great in grey. It's a pretty cool car isn't it. Sport+ is addictive.

I'm glad the UK version doesn't have the amber glass in the headlights though. It looks out of place to me.

John Deeres, but wife has GLC43
If your wife has been driving that Chevy Cobalt (see first photo), then she will certainly feel that she has taken a step up when she drives the GLC43.

Did you custom order or buy from dealer inventory?

Noticed you have the 21" wheels. Curious if you are having the issues with the 21" that was recently been posted about them?

We bought from a dealer. She was happy with the options available on a couple of the cars around town and didn't want to wait for a build. Yes, she has been driving the cobalt...it was her college car so I am sure she is very excited to make the jump!

Widman, I do not see a thread discussing the 21 inch wheels other than the one discussing they are unavailable. If this is what you are referring to then no we did not have this problem as we did not order the car. If it is another thread please point me in that direction and I'll get you an answer.

I thought that the GLC43 doesn't arrive until '17 Spring? Are you in Texas(based on your plate)? The SA in the nearby benz dealer told me it won't arrive until then. I live in the Bay area perhaps that has something to do with us not getting it now?

The coupe is coming next year from what I was told. Honestly, I knew more about the SUV than most SAs I talked to about it. I saw over a dozen invoices here in Houston when I was conducting my search so they are definitely here in Texas.

Very nice! Really like the GLC43's. My wife drives a GLK350 - perhaps a GLC43 is in the future for her...

Sound & Mileage?

Hi there. I currently own a 250d GLC and am about to order the GLC 43 AMG and have only one concern. While driving on the highway does the engine sound come into the cabin so as to make it annoying?

Also what mileage are you getting out of the car?

Thanks

in comfort mode much less so than the diesel versions I test drove. It is much more serene and luxurious. Only noticeable when you put the engine under load. Now if you put it in sport+ it is a totally different beast.

If mpg is a concern, then just don't go there. Seriously, I'm not trying to be a smart **** but just don't get one and go for the 350d instead.

Hi. Thanks for the info. My concern was the noise coming into the cabin. The mileage is just a curiosity.

definitely much quieter than the diesels I drove. No need to worry about the noise in the cabin.

MPG naturally depends on your drive. For us on the school run it's about 18mpg indicated not calculated. I think if I measured and calculate it it would be a bit worse. We live in a hilly area, and that is without motorway traffic. I'm taking it on a longer motorway run next week as I'm off hunting. I think it may get mid to high twenties.

Thanks a lot. It would be great if you let us know your experience after that motorway run.

John Deeres, but wife has GLC43
mileage and exhaust noise

Daniel: Your user profile says you reside in the US. How can you own a GLC 250d?

My wife has put just over 1000 miles on her GLC43. According to the on-board computer, she is getting ~21mpg on her daily 40-mile round-trip commute (no hills and 60 mph max). Constant 70 mph on a level interstate highway is a little better, but still shows less than 25mpg.

Alone in the GLC43 with the audio system muted, the exhaust is audible (but certainly not loud) at highway speeds and could be interpreted as an annoying drone on long drives. In my opinion, if that level of exhaust sound annoys you, either turn on the radio or buy a Lexus. My wife always drives with the radio on (at a modest volume) and says she doesn't notice the exhaust in her GLC43.

My profile was wrong. I live in Andorra. Thanks for the info. My GLC AMG 43 should be arriving early April.

Any new info you can share with us?

Thanks

Engine noise in the cabin in comfort mode is not noticeable. In sport+ it sounds amazing. As it is my wifes car I haven't been tracking any mpg and when I drive it I drive in sport+ with a fairly heavy right foot so my mpg would not be a fair indicator

This was the mileage I got when I went to the AMG Private Lounge meet in the UK last weekend.

I don't think the in-car dash chart goes over 40mpg. I was worried that Mercedes AMG telemetrics monitoring would call me in the car to see whether I was ok and wanted to move to a diesel version. I felt I was not worthy of the GLC43 AMG.

Wow 40mpg.... are you sure your car isn't an AMG GLC 43d !!

As a matter of interest do you use regular or super unleaded? It seems to me the super stuff isn't as easy to find these days

Strictly Shell Super. Luckily in my area we are well served with Shell stations, and I was used to finding them because of our previous GL and my Golf R requiring that as well.

PS. My daughter took that photo I wouldn't dream of doing that whilst driving.

That is awesome fuel economy out of the 6.. Im guessing it was mainly highway / motorway driving?

Interesting. I tried my M4 on both grades and could detect no difference whatsoever and hence stuck to the standard fuel thereafter and saved myself a few bob. You think it makes a big difference?
