Credit Union pricing vs dealer haggling
Thoughts from the peanut gallery on this?
Who's gone through their CU like this? Would you recommend it or go through dealers for the best price?
I see that others are getting 10-14% under MSRP...and I want that!
Note: The CU did offer to buy my existing car (paid off) for KBB value.
Thanks.
El Cajon MB wouldn't drop below MSRP so I moved on to Keyes and HOI.
Looks like we will be in our new GLC300 this week!
Just under 2 months now I got new 2016 GLC at Long Beach Mercedes for 19% off MSRP and received all weather mats, cargo tray, and sun shade. I also was able to put 5k on my Chase Reserve credit card to get that bonus of spending 4k in first 3 months.
Was told by one salesman that he could've made me a better deal if I would've worked with him. I said I wished he would've gotten back to me sooner than 48 hours later.
My opinion of going the credit union route: The upsides are no pressure, ho haggling and they buy your trade-in for KBB pricing. The downside was that I likely could've scored another 3-6% below MSRP by continuing to shop and haggling with dealers within 1500 miles.
I'm satisfied with the route we took.
Happy with the credit union purchase program vs haggling with a dealer.
Have only put 60 miles or so on it but so far, so great!

I probably left something on the table but am pretty happy. He made a slight modification to the build for me and it will be available in March.
