Our New 2017 GLC43 AMG

Our New 2017 GLC43 AMG
Was shopping for a new sport crossover/small SUV and the short list was the GLC43, Macan GTS, F-Pace, SQ5 - the usual suspects. Test drove them all except the F-Pace. Cause I knew the sales guy and no deals to be had, with limited inventory. So I essentially chose between the Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche. My main objective was a small sport SUV that me and my wife/kids would enjoy driving as a 3rd car / part time daily.
Of all the cars I drove the Macan GTS was my favorite, but it had some short comings when it came to back seat room, overall spaciousness, utility, and price - but you kinda knew what you were getting into. A used 2017 GTS with 10k miles was still $69k with little discounts. The SUV was amazing though, with speed, handling, and interior design which was top notch. But the best part of the Macan GTS was the suspension - it was very compliant and absorbent of all road conditions.
Then there was the GLC43 - which from the start felt like a beast just like the Macan, but in a more manic sort of way. It had a real jekyll and hyde personality, which was exciting. It had better room in all dimensions, and the price was very reasonable for the performance and we could purchase or lease (we decided to lease). Also, it was a beautiful suv especially in Black (getting running boards and tint installed next week). But the look, silhouette, and interior design was very appealing. And I felt that the spec we had the opportunity of buying wasn't too overboard in options and just perfect for our needs. The Carbon Fiber center stack, red stitching, Wheels, and Stereo was exactly what we would want.
Then the SQ5 was third, although I actually thought this would be the best daily driver, and had the best ride quality - it lacked emotion. And I could not get over buying the last year model, less power, and it really didn't differentiate itself that much from the regular Q5 S-Line. And we see a ton around town.
So in the end the GLC43 was our best and favorite option. And so we took it home.

Looking very nice.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of the running boards once you've had them fitted. I love the look of them but a lot of people say they are awkward and catch your trousers (pants) when getting in and out

im kinda concerned about that. I'm gonna have to find one at the dealership and test it out. I said the same thing when we had those on our 2008 ML like 5 years ago. Hated that suv and running boards.

Lovely car begone, congratulations - not a million miles from the one I have on order!!
One question - I see you've gone for the 20" wheels rather than the 21" option. Any particular reason?
Also, is the colour plain back or metallic?

Nice
I felt the same way when my did my research before I bought the GLC43.
I did test dove the F-pace as well.
It handled very well but a bit too harsh when it goes over the speed bumps and pot holes. The interior is also a let down for a luxury SUV.
Congrats.

Very similar reasoning for our choice of GLC43 as well; Macan felt too small, Audi just didn't like it, F-Pace is too big we wanted to downsize following our GL class. I had the Maserati Levanti in sight as well, but again it was rather large and in the UK diesel only.
The car looks good, I prefer them without running boards.

congratz!
What kind discount did you get on it? I never heard of Porshe giving a good discount. Jaguar does but probably on on a new car that just came out, in my opinion Jaguar pretends to be a luxury brand.

No no reason other than that's what was on it at the dealership. It's the only one they had.
As as far as deal. The sticker was a little over $61,500 and they discounted $2k. And then worked some other numbers to put my lease payment at $960/mo, 10k miles for 36 months. First payment and fees in the amount of $1400.

But luckily none of that matters, its your car and as long as you like it that is all that matters.

Funny you ask, for me they are not a nuisance as I thought they would be, but for my wife they are, hits her right at her calf. We both love the look and it makes the car look lower and wider, and with the front splitter and rear diffuser it matches nicely - but to each their own. Overall it was a worth while upgrade.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I have a GLC43 ordered for March in Selenite with the running boards. I thought they finished the look of the car off, Privacy glass standard in UK. Black cars look brilliant and have had a few but now too old for spending time cleaning cars.

Very nice build. Love you car.
We just ordered a AMG 43 but in Selenite Grey and with the night package, same wheels that you have as well as the graphite trim. I think the running boards were really nice but we opted not to get them. They were in the way when my wife got in an out.
Our delivery is probably not until late March or early April. The hard part now is waiting so long to get the car.
