Build time GLC 300 4matic
I have the serial number of my car I have on order. How can I find its current status? Sales gave me the build sheet 2 weeks ago at least with the SN. I called yesterday, he said still being built. I am inclined to disbelieve him. something is up

Only dealer can give you status of car. He gets it out of net star. You can go into the dealer and get him to give you a current screen shot.

The Netstar system will give him VIN# - then will tell him when your MB has finished production - then have status waiting at German port for loading - then will give Vessel Name and ETD arrival US when it has been loaded onto the boat.
With that vessel name - you can google and track the boat across the Atlantic.
Please remember this is a straightforward process - if it built - yes, it will come.
Based on other GLC's from built-date or loading date - your dealer will have a good estimate for you of delivery date.

My GLC was completed 3 days after the VIN number was assigned. If you got your VIN 2 weeks ago I would have to believe it is out of production. Your dealer is stringing you along because you don't know any better. You need to read up and find out if your car was built in Finland or Bremen (hint, its the 11th digit of the VIN). It takes a few extra days to get to Bremen from Finland before it gets on a boat to the US.
I would suggest you post other questions in the GLC Waiting Room thread that is prominently on the front page of this forum. I'm sure you will have more questions and if you take the time to read through that thread many of them will be answered. Lots of good info there.

Thanks for all your information. I have been to 3 local dealers trying to get my desired car since July of last year. All stated that from order to arrival in U.S. Would be a month to 6 weeks. I called my sales rep a few minutes ago, he now says it is 4-6 months.

I ordered in mid July, the car will be built in the 1st decade of September. Delivery will be TBD.
4-6 months sounds very odd.
Did you order any unusual options? When I first built my vehicle I had the designo leather package on, and the netstar system told the dealer (he did the entire process on his computer with me by him) it would add another 8 weeks to the process. He explained the designo leather is stitched by hand into the cars and there's a waiting line for all mercedes vehicles.

designo leather is one of my options. I have ordered the Heads Up display, another dealer said he could not order it with that option till it was in that build mode. then this dealer gave me the build sheet with the SN on it so I was expecting it to be built. Fairly soon. That was month ago. I cannot believe this company is so difficult to deal with and give my money to.

Well.... from what you had to say
If you prepared a Build-Sheet at the dealer - once that Build Sheet is entered and accepted into the order system - you would have a Purchase Order #
The PO# stays constant thru the entire process - the VIN# is assigned by the factory when that PO# enter's production.
I "think" you might have PO# and not have VIN# - correct ?
If you have VIN# - you can post last 7 of the VIN# here - and if I have time Fri I can pull that up for you.

Ordered a GLC 300 4Matic Today
The dealer was able to modify a vehicle they had waiting to be built, and I was told it would be delivered mid-October.

Weird...
Well.... yes, the VIN # was assigned July ... scheduled for July 17 build/completion date... then zap... no other info in NetStar after that... Beaverton as originating dealer for the PO can call Distribution who will email MB-Germany for the update...

Aug 25 I was informed it is at the German Port and delivery day is approx. 45 days. Can Anyone confirm the status? I am leery of this salesman.

I have been following the Ship my car is on. Left Germany 8/28 today 9/12 it is at the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. The dealer said it likely would be a month to 6 weeks for delivery from time it left Germany so I suspect it is going per expected time line. I think the Hurricane Irma may have slowed its progress because they likely waited till it passed before heading South along the Florida Coast.

My vehicle has been at Long Beach Port since the end of Sept. I called about 1 week after I knew it was there, sales said it was in transit to Beaverton. I called again 3 days ago sales said it was in delayed mode at Long Beach. I received a call yesterday saying it had been released to transport. I FIND THESE FOLKS HARD TO BELIEVE. can you possibly check on the status for me again?

Yes - on 10/9 your rig was Released to Carrier - so from completion in Germany 8/25 - including a hurricane - you're about 1-2 weeks behind anticipated delivery.
Stress less.
Released to the carrier - can take 4-5 days "normally" to get put on Transport.
Your dealer seems to be giving you accurate info when asked - so you might lighten up on yourself a bit.

Thanks so much. I felt like I was able to follow progress while it was on the ship, so I was stressing a bit that it was sitting at home port and not moving or no way to follow the shipping status of the unit on the carrier.

Taking delivery today, possibly. I was called by the dealer yesterday saying it will be delivered to them today Oct 17. If early enough in the day, they can deliver it to me today; if not, tomorrow! I am not celebrating till I actually have it in my possession.
