What's the difference between GLC300W and GLC300W4, since both are rear wheel drive?

I believe W4 is the designation for the 4Matic.

Thanks Eaton. Outside of some slight color changes, the only difference I’ve found so far is that XM comes standard in the 2024.

A typo then. Hopefully MB pays more attention on building their cars than writing order guides.

Ya you are right, but apparently that takes too much time nowadays or too much to ask for, for MBUSA

  • MB-Tex Dashboard with Nappa Look (U34) required content for all builds until end of 2023.
  • Enhanced Ambient Lighting (894) not available for ordering from May until December 2023. This will be replaced with Standard Ambient Light (891).

It would be disappointing to pay 60-65K for a new car and have it missing features, perts or technology that should otherwise be there.

Don't worry. They have different teams working on different things, you would hope the team that builds the cars will be more attentive.

My error. They were talking about its rear wheel drive, not front wheel drive.

>Isn't this a rear wheel steering? To create a smaller turning circle or smoother lane change?

You will find one or two You Tube videos that show it to be with rear wheel steering, appearing to be from somewhere in Europe, but have otherwise never seen any more info on that so it seems unlikely. There are also a couple videos that show a digital Heat/AC control in the rear console for the rear seat passengers. That appears to really exist for a select number of Europeans somewhere....maybe they saved that for Germany? Who knows. It goes in that odd hole below the rear heat/AC vents. Seems like a odd miss for the rest of the world where MB's live.

The US Market is actually quite unusual in not offering the rear wheel steering or 4 zone climate. Most markets MB sells in offer it, but not the US or Canada. The rear wheel steering is I believe 2.5 or 4.5 degrees when optiioned. The 4 zone climate control is the optiion that adds the little screen to the back of the center console, allowing the rear passengers to select a temperature, fan speed, and air flow direction separately from the front seats, and even from each other.

Seems like a marketing strategy, for instance the C in North America also never was offered massage seats, they want you to buy an E.

This time, they don't offer RWS and made it exclusive for C 43 and C 63 S E Performance.

Interesting. 4 wheel steering is not exactly unheard of in the US, although of course rare. I think I saw the new Humvee or whatever it is from GM is 4 wheel steering. If you (MB) have designed and engineered that feature, wonder why you would not offer it as a way to differentiate your vehicle...unless there is not that much value in it...but then why bother ever making it to begin with....who knows.

MB does offer it in the US, just not on the GLC300. They’ll have it standard on the AMG versions of the GLC and have it on plenty of other models. I think the idea is that the take rate would be extremely low on the 300 as a tiny minority of vehicles are ordered and customer specced, and it would be a rare high end feature that dealerships wouldn’t spec for stock, so they decided to make it exclusive to the AMG GLCs in the US.

GLC 2023
RVV

Hi All,
I'm ordering a MY2024 GLC 220d.
The issue is my dealer searched too hard for this tire as can be seen in 2024 order guide:

But this named RVV - 50.8 cm (20-inch) AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels in my dealer printout.
So I'm not sure it they choose the correct one which they insist that the tire code is correct. But I wanna check with other ones ordering in Europe and having the same code for black multi-spoke wheels.

Thanks

Thanks for posting! Very useful info.
Have follow up questions:
1. Dealer claims 24 MY is exactly same as 23. Is this true/isn't there at least MBUX or some other tweak coming in 24?
2. DOG shows no vented seats with leather/is this true and final? I have X253 leather seats ventilated...as well as all other MBs in the past
3. Does Daimler use dedicated factories for different model years? Like '23 built in India and '24 will be built in Finland, or something like that....
Would appreciate any other insights in 24 vs 23 MY differences.

Thanks!

!. There are almost always some changes of some type, no matter how small. But given the '23 did not show up until just a couple months ago...what could really change? While not a vehicle change, the '24 order configure document showed the XM radio option that was $350 or so on the '23, is now just included (as it should be). Now, whether they just increased the price by $350 or not, who knows. Until the '24 configure document is complete, who knows? There were colors dropped '23 to '24, like one of the grays is gone. The '24 configure documant has been posted here, so it gives a pretty idea. It was mostly the prices the were not settled.
2. The '23 GLC documents have shown that vented seats were only on the 'fake' leather seats...not sure why,
3. Don't now.

Does anyone know when 2024 model year Mercedes usually become available at dealerships? August, September, October, November? I'm wondering when the 2024 model year GLC will be available or when they are being built. Thank you!

There will be no hard or softwear changes to the 2024. There isn't a change in factory either, both are built in Germany for the US market. I've never heard of anyone having different factories for different model years
Leather should be availavle with ventillated seats, but it may be a temporary block for some reason.

This matches what my sales rep told me. The 2023 and 2024 will be the same. My 2023, which is waiting on a truck to bring it from Baltimore, has leather seats but ventilated leather was not available. Not sure why.
