GLC headlight control knob not properly installed?

No problem here. Turn it to left or right and no gaps.

But what you describe is what I see too. The knob turns without a problem. I think it really is that the dash pulls away right at that point and the knob is not curved to match the dash curvature.
Maybe swing by a dealer and take a look at another vehicle.

My main concern is the lane assist and speed limit recognition. Lane assist will, 95% of the time, drift across marked lanes, it’s set to recognize broken lines. It shows me as green on both sides while I drift left or right into other lanes. The speed limit recognition has got me into trouble twice so far thinking the limit is far less than what it really is while on cruise control. These generally give me absolutely no faith in any of the safety features in the driver assistance package. There’s a small list of other issues. But… no battery issues yet, that was done prior to delivery on Saturday.

As for the speed limit assist, I'd recommend turning that off. It really is a bad feature.

The car’s computer can do so much & the rest is up to the driver who should be aware of his surroundings and how the car might or might not respond. Example, on another post the complaint was on the interstate the car was set at 70 & dropped to 35. The computer read the exit sign and acted accordingly. For my self when I’m on the interstate I turn the speed control off in traffic because it breaks to often. It works perfectly in slow bumper to bumper we’re the car follows the car in front and you don’t need to touch a thing. Don’t forget you also can set the distance between cars which controls the car’s actions & reactions.
My point is the modern car(s) are rolling very sophisticated computers on wheels. But your the human behind the wheel with final say.
