Question about “Enhanced ambient lighting” in 24 GLC
So I put a deposit down on a 24 GLC around Oct 20th, sales manager said he doesn't really have an idea of delivery date as it could be anywhere between feb-apri 24.
I mentioned that the enhanced ambient lighting was an important option I was interested in given that I went with the pinnacle trim. My sales manager said there is a chip shortage, but he went ahead and put code 894 Enhanced ambient lighting on the build sheet for $250.
As of Dec 2 my sales manager mentioned he is still waiting for MB to put my build into cycle, since MB is working on coupes rn.
Just curious from ya’lls experience, do you think they’ll be able to option my car out with it given the delivery date?
It’s silly to be so obsessed with this feature, but I always felt the ambient lighting was a pretty big selling point for Mercedes cars.
Ah, that's too bad; this might be a long shot, but what is the difference between Enhanced vs No Enhanced?
To my knowledge it is
1. no lights in air vents
2. no center lower console trim lights?
and all four door handles.
In my case, the car came witout: the dealer said nothing. And when I asked why the lighting did not work, they sais I was... "unlucky".
I will be taking them to court (Belgium, Europe)
When I was putting the deposit down, my sales manager made it sound like him putting the 894 Enhanced ambient on my build sheet might make the factory install it, when the reality is that option is not available at all for the 24 models.
They really need to be more clear about this upfront cause people upgrade trim levels sometimes for one additional feature, like ambient lighting or a heads-up display, then when later on you find out it isn't available, it's almost a waste of money.
Would you be able to post pics of what your dashboard and interior of your GLC looks like at night? Trying to figure out how mine is gunna look, not many videos of glcs without the enhanced ambient light.
i ordered in late October and my build date is Jan 15. Delivery mid February. Hope it comes in before my lease is up. Yeah and to be honest the base ambient lighting is decent, but enhanced makes the interior look like a UFO.
Also you are going from build date to delivery in a month?
my build date is Feb 19th, I was expecting like 5-6 months till delivery.
Yes. I believe they all are. My build date was moved up from feb 15 so that was hopeful.
I’ve heard horror stories from all manufacturers of cars being stuck at port but I’m hopeful. 4 months seems like a long wait for this car. The ones they got on did not have all the features i wanted or color combo.

I think there is light in the door handles, but not below the window control switches.
Thanks for the pics! The interior is still gorgeous.
I think somewhere down the line, I'll buy the ambient light air vent kit off eBay, as I've seen other users on here say it's a relatively easy install. I will just need to contact the dealership about whether or not that voids the warranty.
One last question: what was your timeline between the build date and delivery?
We dropped in on Tuesday and they had it coming in stock the next day. So one day wait ! Had everything we wanted. And in the new Red. Pretty much loaded up. $1500 off in total.
Just noticed 894 is enhanced.. let’s hope since the DOG said it can’t be added until end of Dec 23.. that it’s available in the next few weeks before my Feb build locks in for any changes
Well they did say since last summer it appears that there would be none through end of the year in 2023. So this is going along with what was known.. but a good sign that the C begin getting it back this week.

same happened to me, I ordered my GLC in 12.2022 (in belgium) and 894 was included beside red color change (hyacinth to Patagonia). Then in 06.2023 they called me and told me that it has to be removed due to chip shortage. delivery happened end 11.2023 (yes, after one year) and they even tried to make me pay for the difference in color price, plus Enhanced /Premium Ambient lighting was missing.
